브레이크뉴스 노보림 기자= 기독교복음선교회(JMS)는 JTBC '뉴스룸'이 지난 11일~13일 연속 보도한 '정명석 여신도 성폭력 의혹'과 관련 "지극히 편향적인 보도를 해 기독교복음선교회와 정명석 총재의 명예를 심각하게 훼손했다"고 반박했다.
선교회는 이번 보도에 대해 입장문을 내고 "JTBC는 기독교복음선교회의 안티세력의 주동자이자 이번 사건의 배후자로서 모든 것을 기획, 조종하는 A씨의 논리와 주장을 일방적으로 보도한 것"이라며 "선교회는 적극적으로 취재에 협조해 일방적인 주장이 아닌 팩트에 입각한 객관적인 자료를 제공하여 공정하게 보도해달라고 요청을 하였지만 이를 전혀 반영하지 않았고 오히려 이것을 게이트 키핑 하여 일방적인 주장의 근거로 삼았다"고 주장했다.
이들은 JTBC가 정 총재 육성 녹음본의 일부를 발췌, 편집해 보도한데 대해 "전체를 들어보거나 또는 정명석 총재의 음성과 상대방의 음성을 같이 들어보면 전혀 다른 취지의 내용일 수 있다"면서 "극히 일부의 음성을 앵커의 부연설명에 사용함으로 오해의 소지가 있도록 왜곡 보도했다"고 지적했다.
이어 JTBC 보도 내용 중 ‘가만히 있으면 안 좋아. 너무 감사합니다. 감사합니다. 그렇게 그런 여자를 좋아해’라는 녹음본에 대해선 "이 부분은 앞뒤 맥락을 다 빼먹고 인용한 것이다. 맥락을 알면 이걸 두고 성적인 내용으로 연관시킬 수가 없을 것이다. 정명석 총재는 하나님과 말씀을 대할 때 반응을 보이고 늘 감사하라고 생활 속에서 가르쳐 왔다. 별 관련도 없는 배경 내용을 앞뒤로 붙여서 음성녹취가 바로 그 증거인냥 주장함으로써 오해를 불러일으키고 있다"고 강조했다.

선교회는 아울러 "정명석 총재는 직접적으로 소환 통보를 받은 적이 없다. 사안의 진상을 파악하기 위해 필요한 참고인 추가 조사를 요청하였고 선임된 변호인들과 경찰이 협의하여 조율 중이다. 이를 조사 불응이라고 주장하는 것은 A씨의 말을 그대로 여과없이 대변해 보도한 것"이라고 꼬집었다.
한편 JTBC는 지난 11일 "JMS 정명석 총재가 여신도 성폭행 사건으로 감옥에서 10년을 보내고 만기출소한 뒤 또 다시 성폭행 혐의로 경찰 수사 선상에 올랐다. 피해자는 자신을 종교적으로 세뇌시켜 성폭력을 정당화했다고 주장하고 있다"면서 정 총재의 육성이 담긴 90분 분량의 녹음파일을 입수해 연속 보도했다.
