How about returning the 20,000 pieces from the Lee Kun-hee collection donated to the government?

Samsung Electronics is Korea's largest company... Can't that company create a space to display the Lee Kun-hee collection?

-Moon Il-suk Publisher

The family of the late Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Kun-hee announced that they would donate hundreds of thousands of Lee Kun-hee's collections to the nation. In April, the bereaved family of the late Chairman Lee Kun-hee said, "A total of 11,000 pieces, including 23,000 pieces, including antique works belonging to Chairman Lee Kun-hee, including many designated cultural assets such as national treasures, world-class Western paintings, and modern art works by famous domestic artists, will be donated to national institutions." “60 designated cultural assets (14 national treasures), including ‘Inwangjesaekdo’ by Gyeomjae Jeongseon (National Treasure No. 216), ‘Chuseongbudo’ by Danwon Kim Hongdo (Treasure No. 1393), and Goryeo Buddhist painting ‘Cheonsu Gwaneum Bosaldo’ (Treasure No. 2015) , 46 treasures), as well as Korea’s only cultural property or the oldest relics, and some 2,1600 pieces of antique art from private collections, such as old books and old maps, will be donated to the National Museum.” He continued, “In addition to the works of representative artists of Korean modern art, such as Kim Whanki’s ‘Women and the Jar’, Park Soo-geun’s ‘The Crushing Woman’, Lee Jung-seop’s ‘Bull’, and Jang Ukjin’s ‘Girl/Ferry’ About 1,600 pieces of modern art, including drawings, will be donated to the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea.”

Upon hearing this announcement from the bereaved families, each local government has been working hard to attract the Lee Kun-hee collection. However, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced in a press release on July 7 that, “We will build a Lee Kun-hee Donation Center in Yongsan or Songhyeon-dong, Seoul, where art pieces donated by the bereaved family of the late Chairman Kun-hee Lee are gathered in one place.”

Regarding this issue, in the article under the heading “The ‘Lee Kun-hee Collection’ is dedicated to the nation-society by the bereaved families of the May 17 (Break News), and the perception is transformed into a ‘beautiful cultural action’”, “‘Lee Kun-hee Collection’ It is creating the theory of wealth and prosperity. In the case of several European countries, they have played a pivotal role in raising national tourism revenue by owning art galleries that house the works of famous painters. As such, Daegu City and other local governments are making efforts to attract the 'Lee Kun-hee Collection' art museum and utilize it as a tourism industry. The bereaved family of the late Samsung Electronics Chairman Kun-hee Kun-hee went through the process of donating all of the domestic and foreign art pieces that Lee Kun-hee had collected to the nation and society," he wrote. "The 'Lee Kun-hee Collection' was recognized as a model of the so-called national interest, and many local governments Competition among organizations to attract them continues. The 'Lee Kun-hee Collection' has been criticized by some members of society for buying and collecting art by the chaebol family, but all the art pieces (about 23,000 pieces) collected by the bereaved families of the late Samsung Electronics Chairman Kun-hee Lee. By consecrating this to the country and society, the perception has shifted toward 'beautiful cultural action' for the country.”

After the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recently announced that the Kun-hee Lee Donation Hall, which collected the collection of Chairman Lee Kun-hee in one place, would be built in Yongsan or Songhyeon-dong, Seoul,” several theories emerged and the art world was divided.

The Chosun Ilbo on July 12th said, "677 people in the art world, "Review the origin of the Lee Kun-hee Donation Center" The article titled "The art world criticized the government's plan to establish the 'Lee Kun-hee Donation Center' and urged them to reconsider it from the beginning." The 'Meeting of People Who Want the National Museum of Modern Art', in which 677 personnel participated, issued a statement today (July 12) and said, "The nature of the facility is ambiguous, and even the vision and mission are unclear. "I insisted on withdrawing the construction of a new, unidentified integrated exhibition hall," he said. Opposition opinions are plentiful.

Why did the bereaved family of Chairman Lee Kun-hee announced that they would dedicate the Lee Kun-hee collection to a national institution? It must have been very difficult and costly to collect so many works. I respect the announcement of the bereaved family, so I believe it straight away. However, the Korean government is superior to any private company or individual writer. What should the government's position be when a business owner donates art that he has accumulated throughout his life? I think you should think about whether you should donate the art. Samsung Electronics is the largest conglomerate in Korea. Couldn't that company create a space to showcase the Lee Kun-hee collection? You will want to make I was desperate for such a thought, so I would have collected many of those works.

In many European countries, there are many art galleries that are 100 years old after the artist's death. Such art museums are the backbone of the tourism industry. From this point of view, I think that if a private company builds an art museum to display the Lee Kun-hee collection, it can shine even more in future generations. I want the government to reconsider the receipt of donations for the Lee Kun-hee collection. I'd like you to give it back. I hope that those art-arts will be returned to Lee Kun-hee's bereaved family so that they can build an art museum on their own and contribute to the national interest. When justified, the state may be able to refuse private donations. I propose a reverse idea.

High-class culture grows through hard work. It is time for the Korean government to think about what the state will do for the private sector in order to upgrade the national culture. We must break away from the form of extortion, in which art works are donated to the private sector.

After that, I hope that many artists, or art lovers-lovers, will follow suit and create their own art museum. The appearance of the Samsung Electronics chairman's bereaved family doesn't look good, either because they are afraid it will cost a lot to build an art museum. After that, if artists donate their art to a national institution, will the state build everyone's art museum? It will not be. According to the principle of equity, if the national institution fails to do so, I believe that the Lee Kun-hee collection should be returned to the original donor. On the contrary, I hope that the opposing measures of creating a high-quality art museum by lending major art objects that have been owned by state institutions to private art museum owners are also adopted. It points out that if all of the individuals are well, a country can naturally become a wealthy, strong nation.

There is only one famous spear or famous sword in the world. The same would be true of art. there is only one in the world Myths related to spears and famous swords with mystical powers are handed down. The 'Spear of Longinus' is the spear associated with the death of Jesus. Naver Knowledge Encyclopedia said, “The sacred spear is also called the ‘Spear of Longinus’. The word Longinus is also said to be the name of the 'Roman soldier who pierced Jesus' side with a spear while he was hanging on the cross' recorded in the Bible. After the death of Jesus, this spear of Longinus is known as the spear of immortality. The resurrected Jesus forgave Longinus. Perhaps for this reason, the spear that Longinus possessed was a spear that gave us the belief that those who possess this spear will never die and will always be victorious.

It is said that Hitler, who started World War II, invaded Austria and took possession of this 'Spear of Longinus' that was kept in a museum. Hitler firmly believed that holding the spear would ensure victory in all wars. However, as the Americans entered the Second World War, the spear was taken away by the Americans, and Hitler came to believe that he had been defeated. The U.S. military still possesses the Longius Spear, and there is a legend that it will win any major war.

In the movie 'Gladiator Attila', which was released in 2005 (director = Dick Nori), the sword fight between Attila, the Huns, who destroyed each other, unfolds magnificently. He believed that he would win wherever he went, possessing a famous sword with a myth to win in any battle. He broke his sword during a battle with each other's demons, and eventually died from poison given by the woman who was trying to make her his wife. It is a myth that the breaking of a mysterious sword led to the longevity's corpse.

The works of art in Lee Kun-hee's collection are the only works of art in this world. It is said that most of them will be luxury goods. Therefore, in order to be treated as a luxury product, the original collector's intention should be alive.

Korea is a capitalist country. The late Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Kun-hee was the richest man in Korea. Why is this kind of respect for the richest man in a capitalist country? Why should the state, the rich man, have to donate the works of art he had collected throughout his life? Depending on the direction of thought, I think that the expression “the power of the state took it” is also possible.

Government agencies must be able to commit great crimes. Why is the government taking on the construction of an art museum? I hope the government agency boldly returns the donated works to the bereaved families once again. Only legal mechanisms are in place to prevent the sale of those works of art. moonilsuk@naver.com
