Gwangju City to solve regional problems through public-private collaboration

On the 10th, Kim Dae-jung Convention Center held the Gwangju Regional Problem Solving Platform Promotion Committee… Residents discover agendas, solve local problems through government and local governments public-private governance

(Gwangju = Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-soo = Gwangju Metropolitan City is accelerating the resolution of local problems through public-private collaboration.

Gwangju City announced that the 'Gwangju Regional Problem Solving Platform' held a '2021 Promotion Committee Meeting' at the Kimdaejung Convention Center on the 10th, signed business agreements with six new promotion organizations this year and discussed ways to cooperate on the implementation agenda.

The ‘local problem solving platform’ is a collaborative problem-solving organization that solves national issues such as local issues and carbon-neutral measures together with citizens, the government, local governments, and public institutions together with citizens.

The Gwangju Regional Problem Solving Platform started in July 2019 as a promotion committee in which 36 institutions including private, public, and public corporations, including 12 public institutions in Gwangju-Jeonnam Joint Innovation City, such as Korea Electric Power Corporation and the Korea Electric Power Exchange, participated in this year's Audience Media Foundation Gwangju. It has been expanded to a total of 51 institutions, including the Center and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, Gwangju and Jeonnam Support Group.

In the meantime, to respond to the climate crisis and overcome the post-COVID-19 crisis, by actively reflecting citizens' opinions, we have discovered and implemented the agenda through various channels, such as online agenda proposals, collaborative organization proposals, social contribution matching proposals, and field visits.

In 2019, 15 action agendas were identified and the ‘Innovation Project for Resolving the Gwangju-Type Household Waste Problem’ and ‘The Permanent Rental Housing Community Regeneration Demonstration Project’ were selected as national joint agendas. In 2020, 25 action agendas were identified, and the agendas of 'Citizen Action to Response to Climate Crisis' and 'Support for Out-of-School Youth Education' were selected as the national common agenda and spread across the country.

In particular, in order to prevent the spread of Corona 19 in the region last year, we collaborated with the Korea Electric Power Corporation to implement the COVID-19 emergency support agenda first. It has contributed to overcoming the Corona crisis by providing priority support to children's centers and social welfare institutions in the affected areas.

There are 18 proposed agendas this year ▲Carbon neutrality! A city changes only when the village changes ▲Cultivating energy conversion experts and nurturing Green New Deal jobs ▲RE 100 Civic Club ▲People’s initiative for the installation of safe exclusive roads for bicycles and electric scooters ▲Citizens’ power to create roads without illegal parking ▲Vegetarians also A city that is not inconvenient (Gifu Gourmet City) ▲Technology-based citizen participation, making a model for energy efficiency, ▲Living Lab for eco-friendly festival conversion ▲KEPCO University Student Education Volunteer Corps to support the learning of children from the vulnerable class in COVID-19 ▲Housing and Workplace support ▲Resolving the childcare gap and creating a model for a village care center that links jobs for 50+ generations ▲Bicycle Season 2 Abandoned bicycle upcycling Collaborate with the local community through out-of-school youth workshops, and matching agendas will lead changes in Gwangju to be.

Kim Il-yung, head of the Gwangju Autonomous Administration Bureau, said, “Our city has achieved many achievements that citizens can feel by resolving key issues that have been drifting for a long time or that are difficult to make policy decisions through public-private cooperation. We hope that you will gather your strength and wisdom to achieve success.”
