Military Manpower Administration Commissioner "Not Yoo Seung-jun, but Steve U...

Military Manpower Administration Commissioner Mo Jong-hwa emphasized the existing position of singer Yoo Seung-joon on the 13th, saying "entry should be banned."

"I don't want to use the term Yoo Seung-jun. I think it's Steve U. I don't want to use the term "Steve U is American," he said in an audit of the Military Manpower Administration of the National Assembly's National Defense Committee. Said.

Commissioner Mo said, "Even though (Yoo) was granted military service in 2002, he obtained an overseas travel permit and obtained US citizenship within a week and escaped the military service obligation," he said. "I think entry should be prohibited." .

"Steve U, despite his own departure from military service obligations and repeatedly promising to the people that he should be fair military service, refused it." "If he enters Korea and engages in entertainment activities in Korea, he will sublime military service at this moment. "How much loss will our soldiers have?" he stressed.

Rep. Chae-ik Lee responded, "I agree 100% with Commissioner Mo's firm opinion. If this person enters the country and is acknowledged to have escaped so far, the young people will be frustrated." We have to keep going,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Consulate General of Los Angeles refused to issue a visa to Yoo on the basis of Article 5, Paragraph 2 of the Overseas Koreans Act. The provisions of this law stipulate that the Minister of Justice does not grant qualifications to stay overseas if there is a risk of harming the interests of the Republic of Korea, such as security guarantees, order maintenance, public welfare, and diplomatic relations.

Accordingly, Yoo argued through a lawsuit that "I was only unable to keep my promise as an celebrity, but it is illegal to ban entry indefinitely for reasons such as security guarantees in Korea." "Even if you allow Mr. Yoo to enter the country, there will be no crisis or confusion in the Republic of Korea. Mr. Yoo is not a terrorist, neither a politician nor a chaebol, but he is only a popular entertainer about 20 years ago." .
