총 441개 동아리, 6,000여 명이 참가하는 전국 최대 규모의 시흥시청소년동아리축제가 여덟 번째로 오는 10월 21일 시흥시청에서 열린다.
이덕희 시흥시청소년재단 대표이사는 지난 10월 10일 시청 브리핑룸에서 열린 기자회견에서 “2015년 130개 동아리로 시작한 시흥시청소년동아리축제가 이제 청소년 고유문화 축제로 자리매김했다”며, “올해도 시흥시 적으로 참여해 알차게 준비했다”고 밝혔다.

시흥시청소년동아리축제는 청소년들이 가장 많이 이용하는 ABC행복학습타운에서 진행해 왔으나, 올해는 누구나 참여하고 즐길 수 있는 축제로 만들기 위해 시흥시청 곳곳을 축제장으로 사용한다.
주차장을 포함한 시청 전체를 활용해 4개 구역을 마련하고, 기본 동아리 부스, 체험, 공연, 이벤트, 먹거리 등 구역마다 색다른 내용으로 운영될 예정이다. 또, 시청사를 둘러보는 투어 프로그램 등을 진행해 청소년을 포함한 모든 시민이 편하게 들러 축제를 즐기도록 할 계획이다.

체험 부스 219개, 공연 107개, 현장 참여 101개 동아리를 비롯해 올해는 14개 전시 부스를 추가해 행사 부스와 공연 무대도 확대 운영한다. 과학, 스포츠, 환경 등 부스별로 다양한 분야의 동아리가 활동성과를 선보이고, 체험을 제공함으로써 지역 주민과의 소통, 동아리 간 친목 도모가 활발히 이뤄질 것으로 기대된다.
동아리 축제의 꽃인 공연은 웰컴 무대, 메인무대인 올스테이지, 댄스 무대, 밴드 무대의 4개 공연장에서 특색 있게 선보일 계획이다.

이덕희 대표이사는 “시흥시 청소년들의 꿈과 열정, 흥과 낭만이 넘칠 이번 축제에 시민 여러분의 많은 관심과 참여를 부탁드린다”라고 당부했다.
