브레이크뉴스 노보림 기자= 백종원도 포기했다는 예산시장 근처 '국밥거리'에서 장사에 어려움을 겪자 다시 백종원 더본코리아 대표에게 도움을 요청했다.
지난 22일 유튜브 '백종원' 채널에서 공개된 영상에는 백종원 대표가 예산 국밥거리 일부 상인을 만나 조언을 하는 모습이 담겼다.
백종원 대표를 만난 국밥거리 상인 2명은 "매출이 너무 떨어졌다", "손님들이 (백종원 대표 쫓아냈다고) 너무 뭐라해서 속이 너무 상한다" 등 그간의 심경을 토로했다.
앞서 백종원 대표는 지난 4월 충남 예산 국밥 거리에 세운 '백종원 거리'라고 적힌 간판을 내리겠다고 선언했다.
지역 활성화를 위해 자신의 이름까지 걸어두고 장사를 도왔으나, 일부 상인들이 위생 상태 또는 음식의 질을 지적하자, "참견이 많다", "망하더라도 하고싶은대로 하겠다" 등의 이유를 대며 솔루션을 거부했다. 결국 백 대표는 군과 협의해 국밥거리에서 '백종원' 이름을 빼기로 했다.
백 대표는 당시 "저도 마음을 많이 다쳤다"면서 "저도 부담이 됐고 몇 년에 걸쳐 노력하고 큰 비용을 썼지만 불편해하시는 거 같다"고 밝히기도 했다.
이후 약 한달이 지나자 국밥거리 일부 상인들은 다시 백 대표에게 도움을 요청한 것이다.
이에 백종원 대표는 "내가 떠나긴 어딜 떠나냐. 간판만 내린 것"이라며 상인들을 다시 돕기로 했다.
백 대표와 더본코리아 관계자들은 레시피를 변경, 개발을 통해 상인들을 도왔고, 백 대표가 다시 국밥거리를 찾아 점검하는 내용이 일부 담겼다.
한편 지난 12일 백종원 대표가 철수한 국밥거리에선 음식에서 파리가 나왔다는 후기가 전해지기도 했다. 지난 12일 유튜브 '꿀돔은 못말려' 채널에는 국밥거리에서 국밥을 먹던 도중 한 중년 남성과 상인 간 실랑이하는 내용이 나왔다.
먹던 국밥에서 파리가 나왔다는 이 남성이 "이렇게 장사하면 되겠냐"고 항의하자, 가게 사장은 "요새 여름이라 어쩔 수가 없다. 이해 좀 하시라" 등의 변명으로 일관했다.
이에 남성이 다시 "그러니깐 조심해야 하는 것 아니냐"고 하자, 사장은 다시 "내가 조심할 일이 있냐. 파리가 그런건데"라고 말하는 등 변명으로 일관했다.
