브레이크뉴스 박동제 기자= 프로야구 롯데자이언츠가 미성년자 대상 범법행위를 한 혐의로 검찰 조사를 받고 있는 투수 서준원(22)을 방출했다.
롯데자이언츠트는 23일 입장문을 내고 “구단은 서준원이 미성년자를 대상으로 한 범법행위로 경찰 조사를 받았고 현재 검찰로 이관됐음을 확인하자마자 오늘 징계위원회를 개최했다. 구단은 검찰의 기소 여부와 관계없이 최고 수위 징계인 퇴단을 결정했다”고 밝혔다.
이어 “구단은 선수의 관리소홀을 인정하고 앞으로 엄격하게 성인지 교육을 시행, 엄정한 재발 방지를 위해 노력할 것이다”고 덧붙였다.
롯데자이언츠 대표이사 역시 사과문을 내고 “최근 구단의 소속 선수가 일으킨 불미스러운 사건에 대해 진심으로 사과드린다”며 “많은 팬들의 응원을 받는 프로야구선수가 미성년자를 대상으로 한 범법행위는 결코 용납할 수 없는 일이다”고 전했다.
또 “특히 프로야구를 사랑해 주고 선수들을 보며 꿈을 키우는 청소년을 대상으로 일어난 이번 불미스러운 행위는 많은 분들의 마음에 상처를 입혔다”며 “구단은 선수의 관리 소홀을 인정하고 사회적 물의를 일으킨 점에 대해 다시 한번 사과의 말씀을 드린다”며 고개를 숙였다.
그러면서 “구단은 앞으로 주기적인 성폭력 예방 및 성인지 교육 실시를 통해 엄정한 재발 방지를 약속드리겠다”면서 “다시 한번 롯데자이언츠를 사랑해 주는 모든 분들께 죄송하다는 말씀을 드린다”고 말했다.
한편, 23일 부산일보 보도에 따르면, 서준원은 지난해 말 부산 동래경찰서에 미성년자 약취·유인 혐의로 입건됐다. 경찰은 같은해 12월 서준원을 검찰에 송치했고, 부산지검은 해당 사건을 여성아동범죄조사부에 배당하고 수사를 진행 중이다.
