‘Political Reform 2050’ “Transcending political parties and factions, 100 young people calling for reform of the electoral system in Gwangju”

Held a speech contest centering on the abolition of the single-member constituency system, which is the main culprit in the mass production of bipartisan monopoly and hate politics

The general opinion is that the system of 1987, which maintains a hostile symbiotic relationship through the two-party system of vested interests, should be dismantled. However, the two-party system with vested interests based on the single-member constituency system is holding Korea back.

In response, 100 young people who transcended political parties and factions gathered and took meaningful action to start the drive for reform of the electoral system.

The 'Political Reform 2050', which was launched on September 25th by young politicians from both the ruling and opposition parties, said, "On the coming Tuesday, the Gwangju City Council will hold a free speech contest for 100 young people on the reform of the electoral system under the title of 'Abolish the old political constituency'." said.

The event will begin at 9:30 am with a press conference in the press room of the Gwangju City Council. The main point of the press conference is to call for the abolition of single constituencies, and members of the “Political Reform 2050” will come forward.

Soon after, from 10 o'clock, it will be held at the Gwangju City Council Preliminary Committee meeting room for about 2 hours with a free speech contest for young people to reform the electoral system and conclude.

This 100-person free speech contest is open to anyone, regardless of political party or affiliation. Young people who sympathize with the need for electoral reform and are interested in political reform can speak freely through the speech contest on this day.

In addition, considering the circumstances of young people who have difficulty participating in the free speech contest on the morning of a weekday, they plan to hold another free speech contest in Gwangju during the weekend.

The organizer, “Political Reform 2050,” plans to use this free speech contest as a driving force for electoral system reform, including the abolition of single constituencies. It is to gather the voices of young people and make the National Assembly start political reform.

To this end, “Political Reform 2050” announced that “we will personally visit not only Gwangju but also all over the country to capture the voices of young people who yearn for political reform.”

“Political Reform 2050,” the organizer, emphasized, “In order to end bipartisan monopoly and hate politics, it is most urgent to abolish the National Assembly Election Act, especially single constituencies.”

The People’s Power, the Democratic Party, the Justice Party, and the Basic Income Party gather youth to urge reform of the electoral system
