(곡성=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자= 오는 9월 3일 곡성군 조태일시문학기념관에서 ‘2022 죽형 조태일 문학축전’이 개최된다.
이번 조태일 문학축전은 곡성 출신 죽형(竹兄) 조태일 시인(1941~1999)의 23주기(양력 9월 7일)를 맞아 ‘나의 가장 소중한 생명으로’를 주제로 열린다. 시 낭송과 공연, 시화전, 제4회 조태일 문학상 시상식을 진행할 예정이다.
문학 축전에서는 권혁소 시인과 곡성 어린이들이 함께 조태일 시인의 추모 시를 낭송하게 된다. 또한 조태일 시인의 제자인 손병현 소설가가 이야기 손님이 되어 학창 시절 조태일 시인과 얽힌 일화를 소개한다.
지역 음악 단체 ‘담소’에서는 조 시인의 시에 곡을 붙여 공연을 선보인다. ‘오 솔레미오’, ‘축배의 노래’, ‘우정의 노래’ 등 바리톤 황성철, 소프라노 임현진 성악가의 축하 무대도 준비되어 있다.
조태일시문학기념관 일대에서는 추모 시화전이 열린다. 조태일 시인 대표작과 박남준, 손택수, 이대흠 등 역대 조태일문학상 수상 시인 작품을 비롯해 전국 시인들의 시 50여 편을 상설 전시한다.
제4회 조태일문학상에는 송경동 시인의 ‘꿈꾸는 소리 하고 자빠졌네(창비 간’)가 선정됐다. 수상자에게는 상패와 상금 2천만 원과 함께 조 시인의 대표 시 ‘국토서시’를 새긴 정병례 전각가의 전각 작품을 부상으로 수여한다.
이번 조태일문학상은 지난 5월 1일부터 6월 30일까지 공모와 추천을 통해 접수된 시집을 대상으로 심사를 진행했다. 심사에는 고영서(시인), 김청우(시인, 문학평론가), 이은규(시인), 임헌영(문학평론가), 곽재구(시인), 박남준(시인) 참여했다.
심사위원회는 “조태일 시인의 문학 정신과 얼마나 그 연결의 수평적 고리가 닿아 있는가. 거기에 더하여 또한 시대정신을 잃지 않고 살아있는 시인의 문학적 실천성은 얼마나 담보되어 있는가를 살펴봤다.”라며, “송경동 시인의 이번 시집은 그 심사의 기준에 맞춤처럼 딱 들어맞는 시집이다. 12권의 시집을 들여다보는 시간은 무척 길었으나 그에 비하면 수상작을 뽑는 심사위원들의 결론을 일치시키는 시간은 아주 짧았다.”라고 밝혔다.
한편 송경동 시인은 수상 소감을 통해 “제가 감히 조태일이라는 이름을 감당할 수 있을지 두렵기만 하다. 여전히 갈라진 우리의 땅과 우리의 하늘과 우리의 가락을 위해 ‘일렁이는 피와 다 닳아진 살결과/허연 뼈까지를 통째로 보탤’(「國土序詩」 중에서) 용기도 없는 자가 감히 선생님의 영전 앞에 설 수 있는지 초조해지기마저 한다. 덜컥 이 상을 받고 나면 또 어떻게 살아가야 할지 눈앞이 캄캄하다. 결국 이렇게 조태일이라는 짐을 져야 한다면 어디에서 꺼꾸러지든, 자빠지던 작은 풀씨 하나 되어 후회 없이 주어진 이 길을 걸어가 보겠다.”라고 밝혔다.
송경동 시인은 1967년 전남 벌교에서 태어났다. 2001년 ‘내일을 여는 작가’와 ‘실천문학’으로 작품활동을 시작했다. 대표작으로 시집 ‘꿀잠》(2006), ’사소한 물음들에 답함‘(2009), ’나는 한국인이 아니다‘(2016), 산문집 ’꿈꾸는 자, 잡혀간다‘(2011)가 있다.
