설리번, 한미일정상회담 ‘북한 외화 봉쇄, 한국 금융감독기구 가동’

설리번 미 백악관 보좌관이 한미일 3국 정상회담의 목표에 대해 “북한이 핵과 미사일 프로그램의 자금을 대는데 쓰는 외화를 뺏기 위한 방법에 대한 논의가 이뤄질 것”이라며 “재닛 옐런 재무장관이 다음 달 한국을 방문해 대북 제재와 관련해 한국 당국자들과 논의할 것”이라고 29일 밝혔다.

 

제이크 설리번 안보보좌관은 스페인 나토정상회의 참석 전용기 기자회견으로 “미국은 북한의 수익원을 차단할 방법을 계속 찾아야 할 필요가 있으며, 이 문제는 옐런 장관과 한국의 금융 감독 기구가 실질적 논의를 하는 의제가 될 것”이라고 밝혔다.

 

그는 3국 회담 관련 질의에 “미국이 지난 18개월 동안 대북 제재의 수위를 높여왔고, 특히 북한이 계속 수익원을 창출하는 방법을 조정함에 따라 미국도 새로운 제재 목표물에 대한 탐색을 이어왔다”고 말한 것으로 미국의소리(VOA)가 보도했다.
