The Chungbuk Research Institute (CRI, President Jeong Cho-shi) has been holding the Humanities Academy regularly once a month to ‘spread humanities and spiritual culture in daily life and cultivate knowledge’ from 2022.

Fifth, on the 31st, in the conference room on the first floor of the Chungbuk Research Institute (simultaneous online Zoom live broadcast), Professor Jae-yeol Lee of the Department of Geography Education at Chungbuk National University held a lecture on the theme of ‘space and place of post-colonialism’. Professor Lee explains how to view geography from the cultural and historical perspective by citing various historical examples, as well as the geopolitical position of Russia in relation to the recent situation in Ukraine, as well as how it is connected with colonialism and imperialism. did.

In addition, Professor Jae-Yeol Lee gave a lecture through which the legacy of imperialism and colonialism is still engraved in spaces and places in various ways throughout our lives. The 'racism statue removal movement and Korea's land readjustment project in Daehyeon district' were cited as examples of the importance of the role of the government. In particular, when social consensus is formed, it is pointed out that a paradoxical situation may appear in which the history of domination and discrimination or the geographical imagination provides new opportunities. The importance of cultural-historical and geographical approaches was also emphasized.

Chung Cho-shi, director of the Chungbuk Research Institute, said that the importance of space is emerging as an important factor in terms of location in various national projects. I questioned how far I could get out of it. After that, he said that this lecture was an opportunity to increase the ability to empathize with geographic areas. So far, studying new fields through lectures in the humanities has always been a thrilling experience, and he expressed his expectations for the lecture in the humanities next June.
