또다른 측면은 그가 야권 대표성을 가져 오기 위해 이재명 지사를 표적 공격한다고 볼 수 있다. 무소속으로 정치세력이 없고 대선 지지율도 한자리 수로 이재명 지사는 물론 윤석열 검찰총장에 비해 한참 뒤떨어지는 처지를 만회하기 위한 몸부림일 수 있다.
그러면 이런 그의 의도는 성공할 수 있을까?
홍준표 의원이 어떤 정치적 목표를 가졌건 지금 그의 언행은 다수의 심기를 건드리고 있다. 코로나19로 어려움을 겪는 국민들의 힘들고 어려운 삶을 보듬고 안아주어야 할 정치인의 올바른 자세가 아닐 수 있다. 국민의 짜증과 불쾌감을 불러올 뿐이기 때문이다.
