브레이크뉴스 노보림 기자= 인천 미추홀구 '라면 화재 형제'의 8살 동생이 21일 치료를 받다 끝내 숨졌다. 화재 사건 발생 41일 만이다.
이날 경찰 등에 따르면 서울 모 병원에서 화재로 부상을 입고 치료중인 동생 A(8)군이 호흡곤란 등 증상이 악화돼 중환자실로 옮겨져 치료를 받았으나 이날 오후 3시45분께 숨졌다.
A군은 전날 오후부터 호흡곤란 및 구토 증세로 증상이 악화된 것으로 전해졌다.
이에 이날 오전부터 중환자실로 옮겨져 치료를 받았고, 호흡곤란 증세가 심해져 기관 삽관을 시도했지만 산소포화도가 떨어지며 결국 사망한 것으로 파악됐다.
앞서 지난 19일 형 B(10)군은 온몸에 40%에 심한 3도 화상을 입어 2차례 피부 이식 수술을 받았으며 휴대전화로 원격수업을 가능할 정도로 회복됐다. A(8)군도 어머니를 알아볼 정도로 회복됐으나 이날 갑자기 상태가 악화됐다.
이에 허종식 더불어민주당 의원은 페이스북을 통해 "A군이 유독가스를 너무 많이 마셔 기도가 폐쇄돼 2시간30분가량 심폐소생술을 했지만 깨어나지 못했다"면서 "가슴이 무너진다. 지켜주지 못해 죄송하다"고 밝혔다.
한편, 이들 형제는 부모가 집을 비운 사이 라면을 끓여 먹으려다 집에 화재가 발생, A군은 전신 40%, B군은 5% 가량 화상을 입는 사고를 당했다. 이들 형제는 아버지 없이 어머니와 셋이 살았으며 기초생활수급 가정으로 형편이 넉넉하지 못한 것으로 파악됐다. 특히 코로나19 재확산으로 학교가 비대면 수업을 진행한 날이어서 형제 스스로 끼니를 해결하려다 변을 당했다.
