충남 당진시가 기존의 경유형 관광지에서 벗어나 '오래 머물고 소비하는 체류형 관광 도시'로의 새로운 도약을 공식 선언했다.
당진시는 12일 삽교호 바다공원 야외공연장에서 '충남 방문의 해 당진 관광 대전환 비전 선포식'을 개최했다. 당진시가 주최·주관하고 한국관광공사가 후원한 이번 행사에는 김기재 당진시장과 홍종완 충남도 행정부지사를 비롯해 국회의원, 시의장, 도민 및 관광객 등 5,000여 명이 참석해 당진 관광의 새로운 출발을 함께했다.
이번 행사는 당진 관광의 새로운 미래 방향을 제시하고, 관광산업을 지역경제 활성화의 핵심 동력으로 연결하기 위해 마련됐다.
이날 선포식에서 당진시는 민선 9기 관광 정책의 핵심 방향으로 '더 오래 머물고, 경험하며, 소비하는 체류형 관광'을 제시하고, 관광 대전환의 비전을 대내외에 공식 선포했다.
비전 선포에 이어 진행된 기념 행사에서는 2,000대의 드론이 밤하늘을 수놓은 드론 라이트 쇼를 비롯해 다채로운 문화예술 공연과 화려한 불꽃 쇼가 펼쳐져 현장을 찾은 방문객들에게 잊지 못할 볼거리를 선사했다.
김기재 당진시장을 필두로 한 당진시의 관광 대전환 행보에 충남도 역시 적극적인 지원을 약속했다.
홍종완 충남도 행정부지사는 축사를 통해 "관광 정책의 핵심은 일회성 방문에서 벗어나 지역경제에 활력을 불어넣는 체류형 구조로의 체질 개선"이라며 "당진이 도를 대표하는 명품 체류형 관광 거점으로 거듭날 수 있도록 도 차원의 지원을 아끼지 않겠다"고 밝혔다.
한편, 당진시는 이번 비전 선포를 기점으로 지역 특화 관광자원과 체험형 콘텐츠를 지속 발굴·연계하여, 관광객들의 체류 시간을 늘리고 지역 내 소비를 극대화하는 체류형 관광 인프라 구축에 박차를 가할 계획이다.
