“President’s Golfing & Neutralizing Special Counsel: The Height of Incompetence”… People Power Party’s Jang Dong-hyuk and Jeong Jeom-sik Launch ‘All-Out Counterattack’

- Leadership (Jang Dong-hyuk & Jeong Jeom-sik) strongly condemns security lapses during the President’s overseas trip and the lack of personnel reform in the cabinet reshuffle.

- Declares an all-out legislative battle on key issues, including attempts to strip the Special Counsel of investigative powers and the passage of the suicide prevention fund.

- Lawmakers like Kim Seung-won and Yong Hye-in criticize the confirmation hearings for ministerial nominees as “toothless” (lacking witnesses) and urge the withdrawal of all nominations.

—Lee Je-hang, Senior Reporter/Poet, Break News

On the 10th, the People Power Party (PPP), led by Party Representative Jang Dong-hyuk and Floor Leader Jeong Jeom-sik, launched an all-out offensive against the current administration. They focused their attacks on security failures, errors in bill proposals, and the push to appoint ministerial nominees with clear disqualifying flaws.

Representative Jang highlighted allegations that the President was golfing while a naval soldier went missing and raised issues regarding speculation-related scandals involving cabinet members. Floor Leader Jeong emphasized the need for a legislative response to public livelihood issues, such as blocking bills that would neutralize the Special Counsel and establishing a suicide prevention fund. The leadership pledged to devote all its efforts to rectifying the current chaotic state of state affairs.

Remarks and Messages from Party Representative Jang Dong-hyuk

 Criticism of Diplomatic Conduct Amidst Presidential Overseas Trip and Security Crisis

PPP Representative Jang Dong-hyuk addressed the recent incident where a Navy soldier went missing and subsequently died while on patrol in the East Sea. He criticized allegations that the President’s party was at a golf course while the tragedy was unfolding.

Jang pointed out the President’s silence—offering not a single word of apology as the Commander-in-Chief—at the time the report of the missing soldier was made. Recalling the past sentiment, "A son of the nation when called to serve, but a stranger when dead," he sounded an alarm regarding the current administration's view on national security. He also criticized the diplomatic activities during the visit to France, describing the trip as a "junket devoid of substantive summit outcomes" that focused instead on taking selfies and promoting personal achievements. He particularly raised his voice to point out that, despite a mountain of critical diplomatic issues—such as the U.S. request for troop deployment to the Strait of Hormuz ahead of the November midterm elections—the administration is responding tepidly while remaining obsessed with calculations regarding approval ratings.

 Criticism of the Ruling Party’s Legislative Incompetence and Special Counsel Bill Amendments

Representative Jang Dong-hyuk went on to rebuke the Democratic Party for its attitude regarding a bill—which it had proposed and then dismissed as a "simple mistake"—that would have stripped the special prosecutor assigned to the National Election Commission of investigative powers.

Regarding the ruling party's claim that the error occurred during the processing of 140 bills, Representative Jang characterized it as a "prime example of incompetence in state administration."

He further pointed out that "even the most basic verification systems expected of a major political party are failing to function," citing instances such as the inclusion of fabricated legal precedents in the complaint filed by the "Special Committee on Fabricated Indictments." He asserted that "the caliber of the ruling party and the President falls far short of public expectations," arguing that "correcting the chaotic state of governance and ousting this substandard administration is the path to normalizing South Korean politics."

 Pointing Out Intentions Behind Constitutional Amendment Push and Disqualifying Factors for Cabinet Appointments

At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly main building that day, Representative Jang referred to the President's remarks regarding his term in office, warning that "we must be wary of any underlying intent to secure long-term rule through a scheme-driven constitutional amendment." He also characterized the recent cabinet reshuffle as a tool to extend a dictatorship—serving the interests of a "left-wing cartel" and facilitating the withdrawal of indictments. Criticizing Justice Minister nominee Kim Seung-won—who faces allegations of lobbying related to stock price manipulation and has a record of drunk driving—he remarked, "They pushed ahead with his appointment to use him as a 'shock troop' for dropping prosecutions, despite clear grounds for disqualification."

He also sharply criticized the nomination of Yong Hye-in as Minister of Gender Equality and Family, calling it "an attempt to transplant a figure who has advocated for communist revolutionary ideas into the heart of state administration."

 Condemnation of Real Estate Policy Failures and Farmland Expropriation

Finally, Representative Jang exposed allegations of hypocritical real estate speculation by administration officials and declared the government's real estate policy a total failure. He cited specific examples, such as "gap investment" by the nominee for Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport; staggered real estate investments by the child of the Minister of Government Legislation; and the gifting of a non-resident apartment by the Blue House Secretary for Civil Service Discipline.

He pointedly remarked, "While they amass wealth by driving up housing prices, they rain down loan restrictions and 'tax bombs' on the public." Furthermore, he condemned the policy of mobilizing even young part-time workers to conduct a nationwide survey of farmland and impose enforcement fines as "an act of plundering farmers' property rights," emphasizing that "the People Power Party will fight to the end to protect property rights against an administration intent on expropriating the people's assets."

Remarks and Messages from Floor Leader Jeong Jeom-sik

 Controversy Over Constitutional Amendment Regarding Presidential Term and Criticism of Ruling Party Leader’s Political Maneuvering

People Power Party Floor Leader Jeong Jeom-sik criticized the administration's evasive rhetoric regarding the renunciation of a second term and compliance with judicial proceedings, noting that the presidential term is clearly limited under the current Constitution.

Floor Leader Jeong firmly declared, "There will be absolutely no discussions on constitutional amendment with a political force that fails to abide by the current Constitution." Furthermore, he sharply criticized Democratic Party Representative Kim Min-seok for scrawling the word "OUT" directed at a fellow lawmaker in the plenary chamber, stating that he had "lost the dignity befitting a ruling party leader." He condemned the act as a "petty political maneuver and a ploy to shift the political landscape by pressuring the judiciary to induce a guilty verdict against Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon," and urged an immediate halt to such intimidation of the judiciary.

 Proposal to Ensure the Effectiveness of Suicide Prevention Policies and Establish a Suicide Prevention Fund

Marking "World Suicide Prevention Day," Floor Leader Jeong pointed out that the administration should feel ashamed of its tendency to tout a reduction in suicide rates as a major achievement, given the tragic reality that South Korea holds the highest suicide rate among OECD nations. He emphasized the urgent need for field-oriented countermeasures, citing the fact that suicide is the leading cause of death among teenagers and that the number of deaths in the first half of the year rose by 7% compared to the previous year. He called for measures to "protect teachers from malicious complaints to strengthen the student emotional support system, and to resolve the shortage of dedicated personnel and budgets in local governments." To this end, he proposed the swift passage of the "Act on the Establishment of a Suicide Prevention Fund"—co-sponsored by 127 lawmakers from both ruling and opposition parties—and urged bipartisan cooperation to protect the lives of the people.

 Call for Voluntary Resignation of Unqualified Cabinet Nominees

At the Supreme Council meeting that day, Floor Leader Jeong enumerated the serious moral and professional shortcomings of the nominated ministerial candidates and strongly demanded their immediate voluntary resignation.

He highlighted allegations linking Justice Minister nominee Kim Seung-won to stock price manipulation involving lobbying for a new drug, as well as the real estate speculation spanning three generations by the family of Defense Minister nominee Kang Shin-chul and his irresponsible remarks regarding the merger of military academies. He also criticized Hong Ji-sun—a nominee for Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport who had previously worked on the "Basic Housing" policy—condemning her actions as deceptive to the public, given that she had purchased an apartment by maxing out her borrowing capacity. Regarding Yong Hye-in, a nominee for Minister of Gender Equality and Family, he sarcastically remarked that she displayed "parasitic income" behaviors, such as insisting on holding a concurrent position to qualify for state subsidies and using political funds to pay her husband's salary.

 Vowing to Block Bill Stripping Investigative Powers from Prosecutors Dispatched to the NEC Special Counsel Team

Floor Leader Jeong held a separate press conference that day to condemn a Democratic Party-proposed amendment that would strip prosecutors dispatched to the National Election Commission (NEC) special counsel team of their investigative powers, labeling it a fraudulent act by a "cartel destroying voting rights." He pointed out, "This is a sinister plot to neutralize the special counsel team—launched through a bipartisan agreement—and to cover up the NEC's incompetence and corruption." He further criticized the move, stating, "This amendment to the special counsel act, which directly conflicts with the supplementary provisions of the Criminal Procedure Act, is an attempt to bury a serious crime: the infringement of the people's right to vote." Floor Leader Jeong declared, "The People Power Party will mobilize all legal and political means to do its utmost to block this malicious law that undermines voting rights."

Remarks by Supreme Council Members

 Supreme Council Member Shin Dong-wook: "Empty-Handed France Trip; Nothing Left but Photos with Celebrities"

First, Supreme Council Member Shin Dong-wook criticized Lee Jae-myung’s recent visit to France. Supreme Council member Shin Dong-wook remarked, “It brings to mind the days of hardship when people would pose for photos in front of a beach backdrop at a studio to preserve memories,” adding, “I have to ask: at a time when allegations surrounding the Democratic Party’s new cabinet nominees are sparking widespread public outrage, was it really necessary to travel all the way to France just to stand next to celebrities for a photo op?”

Shin continued, “No matter how closely I examine the itinerary for this overseas trip, I cannot find a convincing reason for it,” pointing out that “nothing remains of the visit other than photos taken with movie stars.” Regarding President Yoon’s media statement that “my term is defined by the Constitution,” Shin warned, “A normal way of speaking would be to declare that one will not pursue any further office—whether a consecutive or non-consecutive term—after the current one ends,” adding, “Given the tendency to flip-flop on past statements, this remark could easily be reversed as well.”

He also criticized the trip’s touted achievements—specifically the strengthening of military intelligence sharing with France and the launch of a nuclear energy dialogue—asking, “What tangible benefit is there in sharing military intelligence with France when the ROK-US alliance is on the verge of collapse?” He further noted the inconsistency, stating, “It makes no sense to seek a nuclear dialogue with France now after the Moon Jae-in administration completely decimated the domestic nuclear energy ecosystem through its nuclear phase-out policy.” He concluded his assessment by saying, “The discussions with President Macron regarding urgent issues, such as the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, amounted to an empty-handed trip devoid of substance.”

 Supreme Council Member Kim Min-soo: “Strengthening Alliances Essential Beyond Self-Reliant Defense… Must Guard Against Union Selfishness and Declining Academic Standards”

Supreme Council Member Kim Min-soo spoke out on various state affairs, including national security, education, labor, and public opinion polling. He pointed out, “Despite North Korean forces repeatedly violating the Military Demarcation Line—more than 20 times in August alone—and expanding tactical roads, our military is removing live ammunition from frontline posts and reducing guard personnel.” He emphasized, “In an era where even military superpowers like the U.S. and Russia rely on solidarity with allies, we must not simply chant slogans about self-reliant defense; instead, we must safeguard peace through deterrence built on strong alliances.”

Regarding education, he noted, “In the 2025 OECD Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), South Korean students saw declines in reading, mathematics, and science scores, with one in five students falling below the basic proficiency level.” He called for a shift in education policy, stating, “Left-leaning educational approaches have reduced the curriculum and exams while simultaneously increasing the difficulty of the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) to differentiate student performance; this has only exacerbated the burden of private education costs, placing a crushing financial strain on parents.”

He also addressed the end of POSCO’s 58-year streak of labor peace, remarking, “The steel industry is in crisis due to an influx of low-priced Chinese products and a sharp drop in operating profits, yet the labor union is putting forward demands totaling 1.4 trillion won.” He sharply criticized the situation, declaring, “Union selfishness that disregards corporate survival and market principles cannot be tolerated.” Finally, citing the results of a Korea Research poll released that day, the speaker added, "Although a 'golden cross' has occurred—with the People Power Party’s approval rating (40.1%) surpassing that of the Democratic Party (36.8%)—we will not become arrogant and will do our utmost to block the Democratic Party’s harmful bills."

 Supreme Council Member Yang Hyang-ja: "Withdraw Nominations for Kim Seung-won and Yong Hye-in... Thoroughly Investigate Genencell Allegations"

Supreme Council Member Yang Hyang-ja demanded the withdrawal of the nominations for Kim Seung-won and Yong Hye-in, citing various allegations surrounding them. She began by noting, "Genencell’s new drug candidate, ES16001, was originally intended as a treatment for shingles but was hastily repurposed as a COVID-19 treatment during the spread of the virus." She added, "It received approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety despite being based on falsified data—specifically, a report that omitted data regarding hamster deaths during animal testing."

Yang criticized the situation, stating, "Clinical trial approval was granted just eight days after nominee Kim Seung-won requested expedited processing from the head of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety; subsequently, the scale of the clinical trial was drastically reduced and eventually halted." She characterized this as "a classic case of suspected stock price manipulation and influence-peddling by those in power, using the label of 'clinical trial approval' rather than actual therapeutic development." Asserting that "the recording contains the voice of a broker, making this a matter for a criminal investigation rather than just a confirmation hearing," she urged President Lee Jae-myung to withdraw Kim’s nomination and appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the case. Furthermore, regarding allegations that candidate Yong Hye-in’s Basic Income Party maintained "phantom" city and provincial chapters, the party demanded an investigation into the actual nature of these party organizations—which were registered at addresses such as apartments or farms—and whether state subsidies were used legally. They insisted, "The President must immediately withdraw the nominations of both Kim Seung-won and Yong Hye-in and restore the legitimacy of state administration."

 Youth Supreme Council Member Woo Jae-jun: "Allegations of Kim Seung-won’s involvement in flawed clinical trial approval... Han Dong-hoon should be reinstated to the party and deployed to the hearing."

Youth Supreme Council Member Woo Jae-jun raised allegations of lobbying involving Kim Seung-won, the nominee for Minister of Justice, and proposed a course of action. Woo criticized the situation, stating, "Allegations are surfacing that nominee Kim Seung-won acted on a request from Yang Su-jin—an entertainment business owner and broker—to leverage connections with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, secure approval for a flawed therapeutic drug's clinical trial, and thereby involve himself with stock price manipulation schemes."

Supreme Council Member Woo argued, "The Democratic Party's behavior—refusing to call witnesses and defending the nominee—is an attempt to neutralize the confirmation hearing," adding, "We must block this forced appointment, which aims to undermine judicial independence and secure the withdrawal of indictments."

He further proposed, "We should bring in independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon, who is currently leading public discourse on this case, to participate in the hearing." Woo explained, "Since independent lawmakers cannot serve on confirmation hearing panels, the party leadership should—in accordance with party rules and via a Supreme Council resolution—rescind or suspend the disciplinary action against Rep. Han to restore his party membership."

 Supreme Council Member Cho Gwang-han: “This administration combines the politics of fear with shameful conduct… We must strengthen the party’s internal foundation.”

Addressing a proposal made earlier by Supreme Council Member Woo Jae-jun regarding Representative Han Dong-hoon, Supreme Council Member Cho Gwang-han clarified his opposition, stating, “He is a figure who was expelled due to allegations of criminal misconduct; given his tendency to seek the spotlight alone rather than harmonizing with the team—like an orchestra—it is appropriate for him to operate outside the party.”

Cho went on to sharply criticize the administration’s governance by citing Chapter 17 of Laozi’s *Tao Te Ching*. He noted, “Laozi categorized governance into four stages: *buji* (unnoticed presence), *yeji* (praise), *waiji* (fear), and *moji* (shame).” Cho criticized the current administration for operating at the third stage, *waiji* (politics of fear), citing actions such as treating farmers and ordinary citizens like criminals during a comprehensive investigation into farmland ownership, and intimidating the public through punitive real estate tax hikes and retaliatory investigations against law enforcement officials.

He further remarked, “The President’s frivolous behavior—such as taking a selfie with an actress while on an overseas trip—falls under the worst stage, *moji* (politics of shame), which brings disgrace to the people.” He warned, “An administration that ignores the hardships of the public, instills fear internally, and degrades national dignity externally will ultimately collapse under the weight of massive public outrage.”

 Policy Committee Chair Im I-ja: “Plummeting Presidential Approval Ratings… Withdraw Agricultural Policies That Treat Farmers Like Criminals.”

Policy Committee Chair Im I-ja focused her criticism on the decline in the President’s approval ratings and the flaws in the administration’s agricultural policies. Policy Committee Chair Im I-ja stated, "The fact that President Lee Jae-myung’s approval rating for state affairs has plummeted to the mid-30% range while his disapproval rating has surpassed 60% serves as a stern warning from the public regarding his self-righteous governance and pattern of appointing unqualified individuals."

Chair Im criticized the administration, saying, "Just as the Lee Jae-myung administration branded the public as speculators in its real estate policy, it is now treating honest farmers as potential criminals through exhaustive investigations and stricter disposal orders in its agricultural policy." She described this approach as "agricultural policy that ruins farmers" without addressing the root of the problem.

She added, "The People Power Party will not stop at mere criticism; through on-site discussions, we will devise realistic alternatives that prevent farmland speculation while ensuring that tenant farmers and agricultural workers do not suffer harm." She further urged, "President Lee must immediately withdraw the nominations of candidates Kim Seung-won and Yong Hye-in and completely overhaul his approach to state affairs."

 Rival parties clash over foreign and security policies on day two of National Assembly interpellation sessions

On the 10th, rival parties engaged in a fierce verbal battle during the National Assembly’s interpellation session focused on foreign affairs, unification, and security. They debated key issues such as the troop deployment to the Strait of Hormuz, the integration of the Army, Navy, and Air Force academies, and the status of the ROK-US alliance. The Democratic Party advocated for a pragmatic, national-interest-centered diplomacy, emphasizing the need for a cautious approach to the Hormuz deployment. In contrast, the People Power Party strongly criticized the push to integrate the military academies and took issue with the government's overall foreign and security policies.

First, Representative Yoo Yong-won of the People Power Party strongly criticized the move to integrate the three military academies. Representative Yoo criticized the move, stating, "They are pushing ahead with a system to train 'duck-like officers'—capable of operating on both land and water but excelling at neither—based on the political logic that merging military academies would reduce the risk of a coup." He added, "The military is becoming an 'osteoporotic force'—rotting from the inside." He also assessed the security posture after visiting frontline units, noting, "I confirmed that North Korean forces have established minefields and electric fences near the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) and have encroached upon our sovereignty by crossing the MDL by 10 to 15 meters in some areas."

Representative Kang Sun-young of the People Power Party, a former Army Major General, also took issue with the push to merge military academies. She pointed out, "Carrying this out so hastily is not about the stated excuse of strengthening joint operations; rather, it is an attempt to fulfill the President's absurd rationale of rooting out potential coup forces."

Meanwhile, Representative Kim Seok-ki of the People Power Party criticized the President's past remarks and diplomatic views. Kim raised his voice, stating, "When he was in the opposition, Lee Jae-myung incited public sentiment regarding the discharge of treated water from Fukushima by claiming it was 'like dumping poison into a well.'" He asked, "Does the poison suddenly turn into clean seawater just because the administration has changed?" He also sharply criticized the President's remarks on China-Taiwan relations, calling them a result of "diplomatic ignorance." Additionally, when Representative Yoo Yong-won inquired about the delay in repatriating two North Korean soldiers captured in Ukraine, Foreign Minister Cho Hyun explained, "We are continuing consultations with the Ukrainian government, as there are various factors and details that need to be reviewed and verified." Meanwhile, a heated verbal clash erupted between independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon and Prime Minister Han Seong-sook during the parliamentary questioning session. Lawmaker Han raised allegations of surveillance, citing the attendance of a Prime Minister's Office official at a press conference. When the Prime Minister dismissed the claim by arguing that "if a casual question constitutes surveillance, then one is under surveillance at every moment," Han retorted, "That is not an exaggeration. This is not something a section chief could do on their own without orders from above, and there were other officials present at the scene." He also criticized the Prime Minister regarding the controversy over orders to leak investigative materials, asking, "Is it appropriate for the Prime Minister to intervene so directly in a specific case?" Lawmakers from the "pro-Han" faction of the People Power Party, including Seo Beom-soo, joined the offensive, labeling the incident an act of "power-driven surveillance."

 People Power Party Legal Advisory Committee Files Complaint with CIO Over ETF-Related '54 Trillion Won Public Loss'

The People Power Party’s Legal Advisory Committee has filed a complaint with the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) against former and current high-ranking officials, alleging that the hasty introduction of single-stock leveraged ETFs caused astronomical financial losses for the public.

On the morning of the 10th, Kim Tae-kyu, Chairman of the Legal Advisory Committee, announced that the committee had filed a complaint with the CIO against former Blue House Policy Chief Kim Yong-beom, Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) Governor Lee Chan-jin, and Financial Services Commission (FSC) Chairman Lee Eok-won. They are accused of causing public losses amounting to approximately 54 trillion won through the rushed introduction of single-stock leveraged ETF products.

The committee pointed out that although these products were ultra-high-risk instruments designed to track the price fluctuations of a single stock at double the rate, they were introduced prematurely—without adequate stress testing or standards for managing liquidity providers (LPs)—resulting in severe damage to individual investors.

Chairman Kim Tae-kyu emphasized, "This case involves allegations of a power-related financial crime where the policy-making processes of high-ranking officials were intertwined with the interests of specific financial firms," adding, "This complaint marks the beginning of efforts to uncover the full extent of the 54 trillion won in public losses."

He further argued that "encouraging trading without fully informing the public of the risks associated with these high-risk products is not merely a policy failure but a matter warranting criminal liability," and insisted on a clear investigation into whether profits were funneled to specific financial firms and whether conflicts of interest existed.

Chairman Kim concluded by urging, "We will mobilize every available measure—including a CIO investigation, a parliamentary probe, and the appointment of a special prosecutor—to hold those responsible fully accountable." They intend to strictly hold parties legally accountable regarding allegations of undue pressure, improper solicitations, and conflicts of interest during the process of accelerating the product launch—which was originally scheduled for the second half of the year.

 People Power Party strongly criticizes "toothless hearing" after failure to select witnesses for ministerial nominee hearings

The People Power Party unleashed strong criticism after the selection of witnesses for the confirmation hearings of Kim Seung-won (Minister of Justice nominee), Yong Hye-in (Minister of Gender Equality and Family nominee), and Kang Shin-chul (Minister of National Defense nominee) fell through one after another due to a failure to reach an agreement between the ruling and opposition parties.

At the Supreme Council meeting, Representative Jang Dong-hyuk targeted nominee Kim Seung-won, stating, "He was likely appointed as a 'shock troop' to withdraw indictments because his many flaws would make him more compliant." He pointed out, "What the public considers grounds for disqualification became the very reason the President selected him." Regarding the Democratic Party's refusal to select witnesses, he strongly criticized the move, asking, "How is this any different from a used car scammer who deceptively sells a flood-damaged vehicle?"

Chief Spokesperson Choi Bo-yoon also issued a commentary, noting, "There is a litany of issues requiring investigation—such as allegations of soliciting approval for new drug clinical trials and stock price manipulation—yet they intend to leave the witness stand, where the truth should be sought, empty." She added, "Under these circumstances, they cannot avoid criticism that this is not a proper confirmation hearing, but a 'blind' hearing." Rep. Yoon Sang-hyun of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee also criticized the move in a broadcast interview, stating, "By eliminating witnesses and reference persons, they’ve created a steamed bun without the filling." He described it as an "opaque 'shielding' hearing" that serves merely as a press conference for explanations and excuses.

Additionally, members of the People Power Party’s Gender Equality Committee held a press conference, asserting that "a hearing without witnesses is nothing more than a 'toothless' event that offers the candidate a chance to make excuses rather than undergoing proper vetting." They demanded that the Democratic Party agree to call all witnesses and urged the candidate to provide a direct explanation. Rep. Jin Jong-oh also took to social media to cite past instances where the Democratic Party had called witnesses, declaring, "What the public wants is not a hearing designed to 'save a brother-figure.'"

 Chief Floor Spokesperson Choi Su-jin Strongly Criticizes Prime Minister’s Remarks on Early Voting System

People Power Party Chief Floor Spokesperson Choi Su-jin strongly criticized Prime Minister Han Seong-suk for framing calls to reform the early voting system in terms of political advantage and demanded an apology.

In a commentary, Spokesperson Choi addressed the Prime Minister's response to Floor Leader Jeong Jeom-sik’s call for the complete abolition of the early voting system; the Prime Minister had suggested that the proposal was motivated by a belief that early voting favors the Democratic Party. Choi pointed out that "Prime Minister Han is deliberately ignoring the reasons why concerns regarding early voting have been continuously raised."

Choi emphasized, "Unlike election-day voting, early voting involves a time gap between the casting and counting of ballots and requires various administrative procedures, such as the transport and storage of ballots cast outside one's home district." She added, "The National Election Commission's poor management—such as the incident during the 2022 presidential election where marked ballots were transported in cardboard boxes and baskets—has invited public distrust." Spokesperson Choi continued her criticism, stating, "What the public demands is the fundamental principle of election management—that the single vote they cast be handled transparently, without a shred of doubt." She added, "Prime Minister Han has ignored this essential issue and instead resorted to partisan calculations."

She further urged, "The Prime Minister, who ought to be resolving public distrust in the electoral system, is instead turning the matter into a political feud," and insisted, "He must apologize to the public for his clear gaffe and correct his misguided perspective."

 Chief Spokesperson Choi Bo-yoon: "Candidate Yong Hye-in’s Arrogant Refusal to Withdraw… President Must Make a Decision"

People Power Party Chief Spokesperson Choi Bo-yoon called on President Lee Jae-myung to withdraw the nomination of Yong Hye-in as Minister of Gender Equality and Family, noting her refusal to step down despite various allegations.

In a commentary, Chief Spokesperson Choi described Candidate Yong’s declared intention to stay in the race—rather than voluntarily resigning—as "a direct challenge to the public and a deplorable act of public deception." Choi criticized Yong’s attitude, noting that she dismisses media raising legitimate suspicions as pushing a "malicious narrative" and labels the opposition party's standard personnel vetting process as "obstructionism," effectively turning the tables on her critics.

She also took issue with Yong's explanations regarding controversies over holding concurrent positions and allegations of misconduct involving city and provincial party chapters. Spokesperson Choi criticized the situation, stating, “They brazenly defended an unprecedented case of holding concurrent positions—which entails special privileges—by claiming it adheres to ‘principles permitted by law,’ and mocked the rule of law with sophistry regarding allegations of ‘ghost’ city and provincial party chapters, arguing that ‘since it was the chairman’s private residence, it did not constitute a false registration.’”She added, “Setting up a private organization disguised as a legitimate political party and attempting to brazen it out without a shred of remorse amounts to voluntarily forfeiting the qualifications of a public political party.”

Choi continued, “Persistently blaming others despite the majority of the public having already deemed the nominee unfit represents the worst personnel disaster in history,” and urged, “President Lee Jae-myung must abandon this arrogant attitude of power and immediately withdraw the nomination of candidate Yong Hye-in in accordance with the will of the people.”

 Spokesperson Jo Yong-sul: "President Lee Jae-myung Must Decide: Are You on the Side of the People or Yong Hye-in?"

People Power Party Spokesperson Jo Yong-sul condemned candidate Yong Hye-in (Minister of Gender Equality and Family) for refusing to step down and demanded a decision from President Lee Jae-myung.

In a commentary, Spokesperson Jo pointed out, “Candidate Yong Hye-in ignored public criticism and declared she would brazenly push forward, claiming, ‘If personal advancement were my priority, I would not have accepted the ministerial post.’” Jo criticized this as “shameless, obstinate rhetoric that turns the tables—ignoring the public’s rebuke while demanding her own appointment.”

Citing recent public opinion poll results, he further noted, “Although 73.4% of the public opposes Candidate Yong’s appointment as minister, the President continues to shield her and stall for time until the confirmation hearing.” Spokesperson Jo criticized the situation, stating, “A candidate backed by the President’s protection is pushing ahead with an appointment aimed at personal advancement, while ignoring concerns raised by the public, the opposition party, and even members of the ruling party.” He added, “One is compelled to ask if this is the ‘popular sovereignty’ the Lee Jae-myung administration speaks of.”

In closing, Spokesperson Jo urged, “President Lee Jae-myung must now decide whether to heed the public’s mandate or stand by Candidate Yong to the very end; he should withdraw the nomination this very day and respond to the people’s will.” He further warned, “If the appointment is forced through, we will regard it as a declaration of war against popular sovereignty and fight to the end.”   hang5247@hanmail.net
