Chungnam Province Secures 1.5 Trillion Won in Investments Across 8 Cities and Counties
Chungcheongnam-do is accelerating the establishment of a foundation for future high-tech industries and revitalizing the local economy by securing investments totaling 1.5303 trillion won from 27 companies, in partnership with eight cities and counties within the province.
On the 10th, the province announced that it had signed a joint investment agreement at the provincial government's conference room. The signing ceremony was attended by Chungnam Governor Park Su-hyun, heads of the eight local governments, and representatives from the 27 participating companies.
Under this agreement, the 27 companies will build new facilities, expand existing ones, or relocate operations to sites totaling 568,672 square meters across industrial complexes in the eight cities and counties—Cheonan, Asan, Seosan, Nonsan, Dangjin, Geumsan, Seocheon, and Hongseong.
Chungnam Province projects that the successful completion of these investments will create 1,811 new jobs.
Notably, these investments span a wide range of sectors—from AI data centers to semiconductors, displays, secondary batteries, aerospace, and automotive electronics—covering both the province's core industries and future high-tech sectors.
Key regional investment details include an automotive electronics component manufacturer (Company A) relocating its Ansan plant to Cheonan at a cost of 113.5 billion won, alongside plant construction or expansion projects by Samyoung Sunhwa (98.9 billion won), Duksan Neolux (66.8 billion won), and KD Coros Battery (36.5 billion won).
In Asan, KS Autosys (35 billion won), Company B (16 billion won), and INC Bio (15 billion won) have decided to invest. In Seosan, SK On is investing 58.7 billion won to convert part of its existing EV battery production line into facilities for LFP batteries used in energy storage systems (ESS), while HVM (116.5 billion won), Kyungshin Cable (63.5 billion won), Woosung Metal (30 billion won), and Muryong (28.7 billion won) are undertaking large-scale expansion investments.
In Dangjin, Youngjin (52.4 billion won), LK Chem (33 billion won), EVACYCLE (30 billion won), JK Advanced Materials (15 billion won), and Global Dream Steel (13.6 billion won) are building new factories or expanding existing ones in the Seokmun National Industrial Complex and the Bugok District.
Companies participating in Nonsan include Route Jade (27.1 billion won), Y&B Food (15 billion won), and Gaonhae (6.6 billion won); meanwhile, in Hongseong, Optimus CDC is investing 600 billion won to build a new AI data center, with additional contributions from Byeol Food (10 billion won) and J-One Medics (5 billion won).
In Seocheon, Aton Industry (12 billion won) and Standards & Companies (11.5 billion won) are building new factories, as are Top Meat (10 billion won) and Daehan Red Ginseng (10 billion won) in Geumsan.
Chungnam Province estimates that the construction resulting from these large-scale investments will generate significant economic ripple effects, including 1.92 trillion won in production, 832.1 billion won in value-added creation, and the generation of 10,247 jobs within the province. South Chungcheong Governor Park Su-hyun emphasized, "I extend my gratitude to the business leaders who, despite challenging economic conditions, believed in the potential of South Chungcheong Province and made the decision to invest boldly." He added, "We will revitalize the local economy and accelerate balanced growth by leveraging the industrial strengths of our eight cities and counties."
He further stated, "Based on the province's 'Three-Power Innovation' and 'Light-Speed Administration' initiatives, we will serve as a steadfast partner to ensure that these bold corporate investments bear fruit."
