Jeonnam-Gwangju Special City Hosts Field-Oriented ‘Integrated Care Practical Training’… Accelerating Public-Private Cooperation
Case-based training held at Yeongam Youth Center for 200 officials in charge across towns, townships, and neighborhoods — Yeongam County Mayor Woo Seung-hee attended to offer encouragement… Training for implementing agencies expanded with support from Songwon University’s Anchor Project Group.
(Break News Jeonnam-Gwangju) Reporter Lee Hak-su = Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City is accelerating efforts to enhance the on-site execution of "Integrated Care"—a key welfare initiative of the 9th popularly elected administration—and to strengthen capabilities at every level to deliver welfare services that residents can truly feel.
On the 9th, Jeonnam-Gwangju Special City conducted practical, case-based training at the Yeongam Youth Center for 200 public officials responsible for integrated care across the region's towns, townships, and neighborhoods.
Yeongam County Mayor Woo Seung-hee attended the event in person to encourage the officials dedicated to resident welfare on the front lines and to emphasize the crucial role of field officials in successfully establishing the integrated care system.
This training was organized to ensure the stable on-site settlement and enhanced execution of the integrated care system. It focused on deepening the institutional understanding of frontline staff—who work most closely with residents—and strengthening practical skills that can be immediately applied in the field, ranging from identifying at-risk households and eligible recipients to connecting them with and managing optimal services.
To maximize the effectiveness of the integrated care project, Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City is currently operating a "systematic, phased training network" that connects everyone from administrators and frontline staff to private implementing agencies.
Previously, in August, the city successfully completed training for 180 heads of towns, townships, and neighborhoods, as well as their respective team leaders, focusing on the overall direction of the integrated care system and the leadership and administrative roles required for its implementation. On the 17th and 18th, training sessions will be held for approximately 100 representatives (50 per session) from private agencies that provide direct care services. The sessions will cover the specific roles of these agencies, public-private collaboration processes, and best practices for field implementation. Through this initiative, the aim is to establish an integrated care ecosystem that seamlessly combines public administrative capacity with private-sector expertise.
Notably, the training for private agencies is being conducted as an "on-site, tailored program"—organized across four regional zones using a 40-million-won budget provided by the Songwon University Anchor Project Group. This approach is expected to significantly enhance care capabilities tailored to the unique characteristics of each local area.
Jeong Gwang-seon, Head of the Health and Welfare Headquarters for the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City, stated, "The core of integrated care lies in proactively identifying marginalized individuals within the welfare settings closest to residents and connecting them with necessary welfare services in a timely and comprehensive manner." He added, "We will spare no effort to continuously strengthen the practical capabilities of both public officials and private agencies and to build a robust collaborative system, ensuring that integrated care takes firm root in the lives of our citizens."
