세종특별자치시가 베트남 수도 하노이와 손을 잡고 경제, 문화, 인재 양성 등 다방면에 걸친 실질적 협력 관계를 대폭 넓혀 나간다.
세종시는 8일 시청 세종실에서 부 다이 탕(Vũ Đại Thắng) 하노이 인민위원장과 만나 두 도시 간의 우호협력의향서(LOI)를 공식 체결했다. 이번 협약식은 부 다이 탕 위원장을 포함한 9명의 하노이시 대표단이 그동안의 교류 성과를 돌아보고 향후 상생 발전 방안을 논의하기 위해 세종시를 방문하면서 이뤄졌다.
체결된 의향서에는 경제·무역 확대를 비롯해 인재 양성, 도시개발 및 혁신, 문화·예술·체육, 인적 교류 등 다양한 분야에서 미래지향적 파트너십을 구축한다는 내용이 명시됐다. 양 도시는 앞으로도 정기적인 대표단 방문과 공동 세미나, 회의 등을 지속 개최하며 신규 협력 과제를 지속해서 발굴해 나갈 방침이다.
세종시와 하노이는 지난해 4월 기관 대표 간 면담을 시작으로 긴밀한 우호 관계를 유지해 왔다.
지난 7월 열린 ‘핵테온 세종 국제 대학생 사이버보안 경진대회’에는 베트남에서 106개 팀(387명)이 참가해 ‘CyberCh1ck’ 팀이 초급부문 대상을 차지하는 성과를 거첬다.
앞서 6월 하노이 현지에서 열린 비즈니스 매칭 행사에서는 세종 지역 기업 4곳이 총 1,080만 달러 규모의 수출 협약을 맺는 등 실질적인 경제 성과도 창출했다.
세종시는 향후 세종시가 강점을 지닌 디지털 행정 및 경제 분야를 중심으로 하노이시와의 구체적인 협력 프로젝트를 다각화할 예정이다.
조상호 세종시장은 “그간 쌓아온 교류 성과를 바탕으로 지역 기업의 해외 판로를 넓히는 한편, 세종시의 도시 운영 노하우와 디지털 행정 경험을 적극 공유하겠다”며 “이번 의향서 체결이 양 도시의 경제와 행정, 문화, 인적 교류 전반을 아우르는 든든한 교두보가 되기를 기대한다”고 강조했다.
