Gimje Jipyeongseon Academy… A Gateway to Nurturing Talent

Civil Service Exam Preparation Class Achieves Remarkable Success with 27 Final Passes This Year

Reporter Kim Hyun-jong

The 'Jipyeongseon Academy Civil Service Exam Class,' operated by the Gimje Sarang Scholarship Foundation in Jeonbuk, has produced 27 successful candidates this year, serving as a vital stepping stone—or a "gateway to success"—for local youth entering public service.

The program was launched to enable young people—who might otherwise relocate to civil service exam prep centers in Noryangjin, Seoul—to return home and prepare for national exams across various fields (including national and local government, general administration, firefighting, and police).

By allowing them to study locally while engaging in economic activities, the program aims to revitalize the local economy and prevent the outflow of financial resources to other regions.

While admission requires passing a selection process, the program has contributed to breaking down employment barriers and fostering social integration by allocating 10% of spots to an 'equal opportunity' track for socially disadvantaged groups and another 10% to a special admission track for graduates of local high schools.

According to Gimje City on the 8th, a total of 27 students from the 'Civil Service Exam Preparation Class' successfully passed various civil service recruitment exams this year.

Notably, 15 of these individuals passed the Gimje City civil service exam, marking a significant achievement in local talent entering the public sector.

Additionally, one candidate for a civilian defense position and two police officer candidates passed their written exams and are awaiting subsequent stages of the selection process, raising expectations for further successful appointments.

Gimje Mayor Jeong Seong-ju stated, "To help local youths aspiring to public service prepare for exams in a stable environment while easing their financial burden, we have provided systematic learning support—including in-person lectures by expert instructors, video lectures covering all subjects, and the operation of a managed study hall."

He stated, "I extend my sincere congratulations to the successful candidates who have diligently persevered through the challenging exam preparation process and achieved such a rewarding outcome," adding, "The fact that so many talented individuals have passed the final recruitment exam for Gimje City officials is particularly meaningful; it represents not only a personal achievement but also the cultivation of talent that will help shape the region's future."

He further added, "Moving forward, we will continue to actively implement talent development policies—such as effectively operating our civil service exam preparation program—by adapting to the changing recruitment landscape and addressing the diverse learning needs of applicants, thereby enabling local youth to nurture their dreams and prepare for the future right here in Gimje."
