【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포항제철소가 태풍과 집중호우에 대비해 주요 설비와 배수시설 등에 대한 특별점검에 나섰다.
최근 국지성 집중호우 등 기상 변동성이 커지면서 침수와 누수, 정전 등 풍수해 피해를 사전에 막고 안정적인 조업과 작업자 안전을 확보하기 위한 조치다.
포항제철소는 우선 사업장 내 우수저장시설의 수위와 배관 상태를 확인하고 도로와 주요 설비 주변의 배수 여건을 집중 점검했다. 수처리 설비의 작동 여부와 상습 침수구역도 살펴 피해가 우려되는 구간은 선제적으로 정비했다.
강풍과 폭우로 발생할 수 있는 2차 피해에도 대비했다. 지붕과 외장재의 탈락 위험 구간을 비롯해 출입문과 창문의 고정 상태, 누수 우려가 있는 시설을 점검했다.
각 공장에 배치된 양수기와 수중펌프 등 수방 장비의 보유 현황과 작동 상태도 확인했다. 수방자재가 부족한 부서에는 장비와 자재 지원을 확대했다.
비상대응체계도 재정비했다. 부서별 비상연락망과 상황 전파체계를 점검하고 태풍 발생을 가정한 현장 모의훈련을 실시해 초기 대응 능력을 높였다.
포항제철소 관계자는 “풍수해 피해를 막기 위해서는 현장의 위험요인을 사전에 파악하고 신속하게 조치하는 것이 중요하다”며 “중점 관리지역과 주요 설비를 꼼꼼히 살펴 기상 악화 상황에서도 안전한 조업이 이뤄질 수 있도록 대비태세를 강화하겠다”고 말했다.
포항제철소는 기상특보와 태풍 이동 경로 등을 실시간으로 확인하면서 기상 상황을 예의주시하고 있다. 태풍이나 집중호우가 예상될 경우 주요 시설에 대한 추가 점검과 필요한 안전조치를 실시할 계획이다.
