12일 원주지방환경청에 따르면, 박소영 청장은 이날 가평 조종천(청평지구) 지방하천정비사업 현장을 방문해 공사 진행 상황과 장비·인력 안전 관리 체계를 꼼꼼히 확인했다.
국가하천인 북한강의 배수 영향 구간인 조종천은 지난 2022년 기후에너지환경부 하천정비 우선사업 대상으로 선정됐다. 특히 홍수취약지구로 지정돼 오는 2028년까지 국비 456억 원이 투입되는 본공사가 진행 중이다. 앞서 가평군은 2025년 대규모 수해로 특별재난지역으로 선포된 바 있으며, 조종천을 비롯한 16개 지방하천에 385억 원의 재해복구비가 교부돼 단순 기능 복구 사업은 올해 6월 마무리됐다.

박소영 청장은 이날 현장에서 “해당 사업 구간은 과거 수차례 수해 피해가 발생했던 곳인 만큼, 제방 축조 등 하천 정비 사업을 철저히 시행해 피해가 절대 재발하지 않도록 만전을 기해달라”고 강조했다.
이어 “연일 이어지는 폭염 속에 현장 근로자들에게 온열질환 등 안전사고가 발생하지 않도록 세심히 챙겨주길 바란다”며 공사 관계자들을 격려했다.
