【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구 북구 도남저수지의 저수율이 극심한 가뭄으로 크게 떨어지면서 농업용수 공급에 비상이 걸렸다. 올해 대구 지역 강수량이 평년의 절반 수준에 그치자, 북구청은 살수차와 양수기 등 가용 장비와 자원을 총동원해 농가 용수 부족 해소에 나섰다.
북구청은 도남저수지의 저수율 감소로 자연 방식을 통한 농업용수 공급이 사실상 어려워지자, 지난 6일부터 양수기 2대를 이용해 저수지에 남아 있는 물을 농수관로로 보내고 있다고 12일 밝혔다. 여기에 더해 10일부터는 15톤 규모의 대형 살수차 한 대를 임차해 하루 60톤가량의 물을 관로로 직접 공급하고 있다.
북구청은 도남저수지 하단에 위치한 소형저수지 강대골지의 수원을 추가로 활용하는 방안도 추진한다. 이미 관계기관과 협의를 마쳤으며, 공급 가능한 물량을 확인해 부족한 농업용수 확보에 쓸 계획이다. 기존에 설치된 지하수 관정 역시 농업용수 공급에 동원하고, 필요할 경우 추가 개발도 검토 중이다.
도남저수지는 1944년에 만들어졌으며 총저수량이 38만5,000㎥에 달한다. 올해 극심한 가뭄으로 저수율이 예년의 절반 수준에 머물면서 농민들의 시름이 깊어지고 있다.
북구청은 한국농어촌공사와 협력해 기상 상황과 저수지 수위 등을 상시 점검하며, 앞으로 가뭄이 더 심해질 경우 급수차 추가 투입 등 대응 방안을 확대할 방침이다. 하지만 가뭄이 장기화될 경우, 지하수 관정의 과도한 취수로 인한 수량 감소나 수질 악화, 주변 지역에 미칠 영향 등에 대한 세심한 관리도 필요하다는 지적이다.
이근수 북구청장은 “가뭄으로 힘들어하는 농민들의 마음을 깊이 헤아린다”며 “가뭄 해소 때까지 모든 자원을 최대한 동원해 안정적인 농업용수 공급에 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
