Pocheon Family Center Recruits Participants for ‘Pet-mily’ Program for Single-Person Household Dog Owners
Targeting single-person households raising small to medium-sized dogs weighing 15kg or less… 10 sessions covering topics such as etiquette and making homemade treats
<Break News Pocheon = Reporter Lee Yong-ha> The Pocheon Family Center, directly managed by Pocheon City, is launching customized support initiatives to promote healthy daily lives and establish a proper pet culture for single-person households.
According to the Pocheon Family Center on the 12th, the center is recruiting participants until the 17th for ‘Pet-mily,’ a program designed to promote healthy pet ownership and emotional stability for single-person households.
This initiative was planned to actively reflect the lifestyles of the recently surging number of single-person households, providing accurate information on dog care and strengthening the psychological stability of these households through systematic education.
The target participants are 10 single-person households within the city who are currently raising dogs. To ensure the safe and smooth operation of the program, participation is limited to households raising small or medium-sized dogs weighing 15kg or less.
The training will be conducted over a total of 10 sessions from August 21 to November 7. Through cooperation with Pocheon Ilgo High School, practical training environments such as the school's playground and kitchen will be utilized. The main curriculum features a diverse range of practical programs useful for daily life, including dog owner etiquette training, making homemade treats, and understanding dog home care and behavioral problems. Dogs are permitted to accompany participants to all classes except the homemade treat making session; however, basic pet etiquette must be observed, such as keeping dogs on a leash and bringing a kennel and poop bags.
Residents wishing to apply should register as a member on the Pocheon Family Center website and submit their application by attaching documents proving they are a single-person household (such as a Resident Registration Certificate). Kim Su-jeong, Director of the Pocheon Family Center, stated, “For single-person households, a companion dog is more than just a pet; it is a precious family member with whom they share their lives.” She added, “Through this ‘Pet-Family’ program, we hope that a proper pet culture will take firm root and that single-person households will enjoy healthier lives, both physically and emotionally.”
For more details regarding the program, please check the official website of the Pocheon Family Center or contact the person in charge at 031-538-3380.
