78.7% of Companies to Hire in the Second Half of This Year... Shifting from Large-Scale Open Recruitment to Small-Scale and Rolling Recruitment
It was found that eight out of ten domestic companies plan to recruit talent in the second half of this year.
However, "Long-Tail recruitment"—referring to small-scale, continuous hiring rather than large-scale open recruitment—has established itself as the new mainstream trend, while recruitment scale and budgets showed an overall tendency to shrink.
According to the "2026 Second Half Recruitment Trends" survey conducted by JobKorea on the 10th targeting 569 HR managers at domestic companies, 78.7% of companies responded that they "have" recruitment plans for the second half, a level similar to the previous year's survey (78.3%).
Regarding specific recruitment methods, "partial filling at the departmental or job level" was the most common at 61.2%, while "company-wide recruitment" accounted for only 17.6%.
Recruitment timing also showed a pattern of dispersion, with "continuous hiring in the second half (42.6%)" rather than being concentrated during a specific period. The order was ‘July–September (29.2%)’ followed by ‘October–December (17.4%)’.
The survey found that while the overall hiring market remains open, the number of people hired at once and the budget allocated have significantly decreased.
The percentage of companies planning to hire ‘10 people or fewer’ in the second half of the year surged by 18.4 percentage points compared to the previous year, reaching 78.9%.
Conversely, plans to hire ‘11–30 people’ fell by 10.2 percentage points to 8.6%, and large-scale hiring of ‘101 or more people’ decreased by 4.5 percentage points to 2.8%.
Regarding hiring budgets, the percentage of companies planning to spend ‘less than 3 million won’ increased by 37.5 percentage points compared to the previous year, reaching 74.3%. Of these, ‘less than 1 million won’ accounted for 37.2%, while responses indicating ‘no spending (0 won)’ reached 22.8%. The percentage of companies planning to spend 10 million won or more dropped by 24.3 percentage points to 13.2%.
To maintain efficient, ongoing recruitment within a limited budget, companies are actively increasing the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. The percentage of respondents stating that they are utilizing AI in recruitment tasks surged by 46.6 percentage points from the previous year to 80.8%, while 33.2% reported entrusting more than half of their work to AI.
It was found that the most important factor companies consider when selecting AI recruitment tools is the "accuracy of recommendations and analysis" (56.2%).
