[브레이크뉴스=강동호 기자] 합천군이 처음으로 개최한 하찬석국수배 어린이바둑대회에 전국 바둑 꿈나무 400여 명이 참가하며 성황을 이뤘다.
합천군은 지난 1일 합천다목적체육관에서 '2026 하찬석국수배 어린이바둑대회'를 개최했다고 밝혔다. 대회에는 전국 각지에서 어린이 선수 400여 명이 참가해 기량을 겨뤘으며, 신진서 9단과의 포토타임과 인공지능(AI) 바둑로봇 체험 등 부대행사도 함께 진행됐다.
개회식에는 김현미 합천부군수와 이필호 경남도의원, 정민화 합천군바둑협회장, 신진서 9단, 조상연 6단 등이 참석했다.
대회에 앞서 지난달 31일에는 합천영상테마파크 청와대세트장에서 '제14회 하찬석국수배 영재최강전 영재VS정상 기념대국'이 열렸다.
기념대국에서는 제14회 하찬석국수배 영재최강전 우승자인 조상연 6단과 세계랭킹 1위 신진서 9단이 맞붙어 신진서 9단이 136수 만에 백불계승을 거뒀다. 조상연 6단은 제12회 대회 우승자이기도 하며, 신진서 9단과의 두 번째 기념대국을 치렀다.
합천군은 하찬석 국수의 뜻을 계승해 미래 바둑 인재를 육성하기 위해 올해부터 어린이바둑대회를 정례화할 계획이다.
김현미 합천부군수는 "어린이바둑대회를 매년 개최해 바둑 꿈나무들이 성장할 수 있는 기반을 확대하겠다"고 말했다. 김윤철 군수도 기념대국에서 "하찬석 국수의 정신을 이어 한국 바둑의 미래를 이끌 인재 육성에 적극 지원하겠다"고 밝혔다.
