(화순=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자=전남바이오진흥원 바이오의약본부가 지역 맞춤형 바이오 전문인력 양성을 위한 맞춤형 인재육성 프로그램(CTO, Contract Training Organization) 하계 교육을 본격 가동한다. 진흥원은 이번 하계 교육을 통해 중·고등학생과 대학생 등 총 200여 명의 미래 바이오 전문인력을 양성한다는 방침이다.
바이오의약본부는 지난 28일 화순교육지원청이 선발한 화순지역 중학생 20여 명을 대상으로 바이오 현장실습 교육을 진행했다. 학생들이 바이오 분야를 직접 체험하고 미래 진로를 탐색할 수 있도록 실습 중심 프로그램으로 꾸려져 참가자들의 큰 호응을 얻었다.
청소년을 위한 '청소년 바이오 탐험단' 프로그램도 인기다. 지난 7월 능주고등학교(9~10일)를 시작으로 나주고(13일), 담양고(14일), 화순이양중(15일) 학생들에게 세포배양, 엔도톡신 시험, HPLC 분석 등 생생한 바이오 실습교육을 선사했다. 이어 오는 8월에도 해룡고(11~12일), 화순고(19일), 장흥고(21일) 등을 대상으로 교육을 계속 이어갈 예정이다.
대학생 대상 교육 역시 열기가 뜨겁다. 지난 7월 21일부터 23일까지 사흘간 전남지역 대학생 43명이 참가한 ‘2026 글로벌 바이오캠퍼스 인력양성 프로그램’ 하계 집중교육이 성공적으로 마무리됐다. 참가 학생들은 바이오의약품 제조공정과 GMP(우수 의약품 제조 및 품질관리 기준) 실습 등 산업 현장에서 즉시 활용 가능한 핵심 기술을 배우며 실무 역량을 다졌다.
이번 하계 프로그램은 초·중·고교생까지 대상을 확대해 성장 단계별 맞춤형 교육체계를 구축했다는 점에서 교육 현장의 높은 평가를 받고 있다. 특히 바이오의약본부 소속 현직 연구원들이 직접 강사로 나서 생생한 현장 노하우를 전달한 점이 학생과 학교 관계자들의 만족도를 높였다.
서동삼 바이오의약본부장은 "지역 학생들이 바이오산업을 직접 체험하고 미래 진로를 구체적으로 설계할 수 있도록 현장 중심의 실습교육을 지속 확대하고 있다"며 "앞으로도 지역사회와 긴밀히 협력해 맞춤형 교육을 강화하고, 전남 바이오산업을 이끌어갈 핵심 전문인력 양성에 최선을 다하겠다"고 밝혔다.
한편, 화순 백신산업특구에 위치한 전남바이오진흥원 바이오의약본부는 의약품 원액 생산부터 비임상·임상용 시료 완제 생산까지 가능한 인프라를 갖추고 지역 바이오의약품 개발을 지원하고 있다. 아울러 전문인력 양성을 위해 올해까지 총 60억 원을 투입, GMP 실습교육장과 Non-GMP 실험실습실, 첨단 교육·실습 장비 등 최첨단 실무 중심 교육환경을 지속 확충해 나가고 있다.
