월성원자력본부(본부장 권원택)는 오는 9월 30일까지 경주시 동경주 지역 주민을 대상으로 ‘월성본부와 함께하는 1kWh 줄이기 캠페인’을 운영한다고 밝혔다.
이번 캠페인은 여름철 전력 사용량이 급증하는 시기를 맞아 주민들의 자발적인 에너지 절약 실천을 독려하고 탄소중립 문화 확산에 기여하기 위해 마련됐다.
참여 대상은 경주시 감포읍, 문무대왕면, 양남면에 거주하는 주민이다. 참여 희망자는 전기요금 고지서 등 전력 사용량 확인 자료를 지참해 월성원자력홍보관을 방문하면 된다.
전월 대비 당월 전력 사용량을 줄였거나 지난해 같은 기간과 비교해 전력 사용량을 절감한 사실을 인증하면 소정의 기념품을 받을 수 있다.
전기요금 지로용지뿐 아니라 전자고지서, 관리비 내역서 등 전력 사용량 절감 여부를 확인할 수 있는 자료도 인정된다. 다만 2026년 7월부터 9월 사이 발행된 전기요금 고지서만 가능하며, 심야전기요금 고지서는 제외된다. 참여는 가구당 1회로 제한된다.
월성원자력본부 관계자는 “이번 캠페인이 지역 주민들이 일상 속에서 에너지 절약을 실천하는 계기가 되길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 지역사회와 함께 탄소중립 실현과 친환경 에너지 문화 확산을 위해 다양한 활동을 이어가겠다”고 밝혔다.

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP)’s Wolsong Nuclear Power Plant is launching an energy conservation campaign with local residents in preparation for the increase in electricity demand during the summer.
The Wolsong Nuclear Power Plant (Director Kwon Won-taek) announced that it will operate the "Reduce 1kWh Campaign with Wolsong Headquarters" for residents of the East Gyeongju area of Gyeongju City until September 30.
This campaign was organized to encourage residents to voluntarily practice energy conservation and to contribute to the spread of a carbon-neutral culture, coinciding with the period when electricity usage surges during the summer.
Participation is open to residents living in Gampo-eup, Munmudaewang-myeon, and Yangnam-myeon in Gyeongju City. Those wishing to participate should visit the Wolsong Nuclear Power Plant PR Center with documents verifying their electricity usage, such as electricity bills.
Participants who certify that they reduced their electricity usage in the current month compared to the previous month or compared it to the same period last year will receive a small commemorative gift.
In addition to electricity bill slips, documents verifying electricity usage reduction, such as electronic bills and maintenance fee statements, are also accepted. However, only electricity bills issued between July and September 2026 are eligible, and nighttime electricity bills are excluded. Participation is limited to once per household.
An official from the Wolsong Nuclear Power Plant stated, "We hope this campaign serves as an opportunity for local residents to practice energy conservation in their daily lives," adding, "We will continue to carry out various activities together with the local community to achieve carbon neutrality and spread an eco-friendly energy culture."
