달성군은 전문 언어치료사가 어린이집을 직접 방문해 언어 발달이 필요한 영유아를 대상으로 맞춤형 치료를 제공하는 사업을 지난 4월부터 운영하고 있다고 17일 밝혔다.
그동안 언어치료가 필요한 아동의 경우 전문기관 예약과 장기간 대기, 원거리 이동 등의 어려움을 겪는 사례가 적지 않았다. 이에 군은 보호자들의 부담을 줄이고 보다 신속한 지원이 이뤄질 수 있도록 어린이집 방문형 서비스를 도입했다.
이번 사업은 영유아가 익숙한 어린이집 환경에서 전문 치료를 받을 수 있도록 한 것이 특징이다. 낯선 장소에 대한 심리적 부담을 줄이고 치료 참여도를 높여 보다 효과적인 언어 발달 지원이 가능하도록 했다.
특히 군은 언어 발달이 빠르게 이뤄지는 시기를 고려해 만 2세 영아를 우선 지원 대상으로 선정하고 조기 개입에 집중하고 있다. 지원 대상은 지역 어린이집에 재원 중인 영유아이며, 다문화가정과 외국인 가정 아동까지 포함해 언어 발달 지원의 사각지대를 줄이는 데 힘쓰고 있다.
사업은 지난 4월부터 연말까지 총 4차례에 걸쳐 진행되며, 지역 내 아동 100여 명을 대상으로 서비스를 제공할 예정이다. 군은 조기 치료를 통해 향후 학습 적응 문제나 정서적 어려움 등으로 이어질 수 있는 발달 문제를 예방하는 데 도움이 될 것으로 기대하고 있다.
사업에 참여한 한 학부모는 “아이의 언어 발달이 또래보다 늦어 걱정이 많았는데 어린이집에서 전문적인 상담과 치료를 받을 수 있어 큰 도움이 되고 있다”며 “별도로 기관을 찾아다니지 않아도 돼 부담이 줄었다”고 말했다.
최재훈 달성군수는 “언어는 아이가 사회와 소통하는 중요한 출발점”이라며 “영유아들이 건강하게 성장할 수 있도록 현장의 의견을 반영한 맞춤형 지원 정책을 지속적으로 확대해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
