경북도는 오는 7월부터 10월까지 북부권 초등학생을 대상으로 ‘온동네 돌봄 경제·금융 교육프로그램’을 운영한다고 9일 밝혔다. 사업 운영은 대구가톨릭대학교가 맡으며, 최근 iM금융그룹 사회공헌재단과 업무협약을 체결하고 본격적인 준비에 들어갔다.
이번 프로그램은 상주, 안동, 영주, 봉화, 울진, 영양 등 북부권 6개 시·군 초등학교를 대상으로 진행된다. 교육은 여름방학 기간의 캠프형 과정과 2학기 중 운영되는 온라인 과정으로 나눠 운영될 예정이다.
상주와 안동, 영주 지역에서는 방학 기간을 활용한 체험 중심의 캠프형 교육이 마련된다. 참가 학생들은 저축과 투자 개념, 경제 용어 이해, 화폐와 시장의 역할 등을 쉽고 흥미롭게 배울 수 있도록 구성된 프로그램에 참여하게 된다.
봉화와 울진, 영양 지역에서는 9월부터 10월까지 온라인 교육이 진행된다. 화폐의 역사와 역할, 합리적인 소비 습관, 용돈 관리 방법, 금융 관련 직업 소개 등 실생활과 밀접한 주제를 중심으로 교육이 이뤄지며 학습 교재도 함께 제공된다.
경북도는 이번 프로그램이 어린이들이 금융과 경제의 기본 원리를 자연스럽게 익히고 올바른 소비 습관을 형성하는 데 도움이 될 것으로 기대하고 있다.
한편 경북도는 대구가톨릭대학교를 중심으로 21개 대학이 참여하는 초등 돌봄·방과후 교육 지원 사업을 지난해부터 추진하고 있다. 해당 사업은 경북형 앵커(구 라이즈) 핵심사업의 하나로 운영되고 있으며, 지난해에는 100개의 교육프로그램을 개발해 도내 163개 초등학교, 2만2천여 명의 학생들이 참여했다.
오레지나 대구가톨릭대학교 교수는 “iM사회공헌재단과 협력해 경제·금융 교육 프로그램을 마련했다”며 “앞으로도 산학협력을 확대해 지역 아동 돌봄과 교육 지원 체계를 더욱 강화해 나갈 계획”이라고 말했다.
이상수 경상북도 지방시대정책국장은 “이번 사업은 초등학생들에게 양질의 돌봄 서비스와 교육 기회를 제공하는 동시에 조기 경제·금융 교육을 통해 올바른 금융 습관을 형성하도록 돕기 위한 것”이라며 “대학의 전문성과 지역 자원을 연계해 아동 맞춤형 교육프로그램을 지속적으로 확대해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

Online education will be conducted in the Bonghwa, Uljin, and Yeongyang regions from September to October. The curriculum focuses on topics closely related to daily life, such as the history and role of currency, rational spending habits, allowance management methods, and introductions to finance-related careers; learning materials will also be provided.
Gyeongbuk Province expects this program to help children naturally learn the basic principles of finance and economics and form sound spending habits.
Meanwhile, Gyeongbuk Province has been promoting an elementary school care and after-school education support project since last year, involving 21 universities led by Daegu Catholic University. This project is operated as one of the core initiatives of the Gyeongbuk-type Anchor (formerly Rise); last year, 100 educational programs were developed, with approximately 22,000 students from 163 elementary schools in the province participating. Professor Oregina of Daegu Catholic University stated, “We have prepared an economic and financial education program in cooperation with the iM Social Contribution Foundation,” adding, “We plan to further strengthen the support system for local child care and education by expanding industry-academia collaboration in the future.”
Lee Sang-soo, Director General of the Local Era Policy Bureau of Gyeongsangbuk-do, said, “This project aims to provide high-quality care services and educational opportunities to elementary school students while helping them form sound financial habits through early economic and financial education,” and added, “We will continue to expand customized educational programs for children by linking university expertise with local resources.”
