【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=박용선 포항시장 당선인이 노인·장애인 복지와 보훈, 지역 산업·경제 현장을 잇달아 방문하며 민생 중심의 현장 행보를 이어가고 있다.
박 당선인은 지난 8일 대한노인회 포항시지회와 6·25참전유공자 가정을 방문한 데 이어 포항시북부장애인종합복지관, 포항철강산업단지관리공단, 포항상공회의소를 차례로 찾아 복지 및 경제 현안을 점검했다고 밝혔다.
박 당선인은 먼저 대한노인회 포항시지회를 찾아 노인회 임원들과 간담회를 갖고 건강·돌봄 서비스와 사회참여 확대 등 노인복지 현안에 대한 의견을 청취했다. 이 자리에서 “어르신들이 지역사회의 당당한 구성원으로 존중받으며 안정된 노후를 보낼 수 있도록 생활과 밀접한 지원을 더욱 세심하게 살펴나가겠다”고 말했다.
이어 김종록(97) 6·25참전유공자회 포항시지회 부지회장 자택을 방문해 국가를 위해 헌신한 데 대한 감사의 뜻을 전하고, 국가유공자와 보훈 가족들의 생활상 어려움과 건의사항을 들었다.
포항시북부장애인종합복지관에서는 이용자들을 위한 배식 봉사에 참여하며 장애인들과 직접 소통했다. 또 복지관 관계자들과 만나 복지서비스 운영 현황과 복지 사각지대 해소 방안 등에 대해 의견을 나눴다.
복지 현장 방문에 이어 지역경제 현장도 찾았다. 포항철강산업단지관리공단에서는 철강경기 침체와 원자재 가격 상승, 인력 수급 문제 등 입주기업들이 겪고 있는 애로사항을 청취하고 산업단지 경쟁력 강화 방안을 논의했다.
포항상공회의소에서는 나주영 회장을 비롯한 지역 경제계 관계자들과 만나 중소기업 경영 안정과 투자환경 개선, 일자리 창출, 소비 활성화 방안 등을 논의했다. 특히 철강산업 경쟁력 회복과 미래 신산업 육성을 통한 지역경제 활성화 방안에 대해 의견을 교환했다.
박 당선인은 “시정의 출발점은 시민이 생활하는 현장이어야 한다”며 “국가를 위해 헌신하신 분들과 어르신들을 정중히 모시고, 장애인과 저소득층 등 도움이 필요한 시민들이 소외되지 않도록 촘촘한 복지체계를 구축하겠다”고 밝혔다.
이어 “지역경제 회복을 위해서는 산업 현장의 활력과 중소기업의 안정적인 성장이 중요하다”며 “기업의 어려움을 행정이 먼저 찾아 해결하고 양질의 일자리와 소득이 시민의 삶으로 이어지는 선순환 경제를 만들어 가겠다”고 말했다.
한편 박 당선인은 취임 전까지 복지시설과 산업·경제 현장을 지속적으로 방문하며 시민 의견을 수렴하고, 현장에서 제기된 건의사항을 향후 시정 운영과 주요 정책에 반영할 계획이다.

At the Pohang Chamber of Commerce and Industry, they met with Chairman Na Ju-young and other local business leaders to discuss measures for stabilizing management of small and medium-sized enterprises, improving the investment environment, creating jobs, and stimulating consumption. In particular, they exchanged opinions on ways to revitalize the local economy through the recovery of the steel industry's competitiveness and the fostering of new future industries.
Mayor-elect Park stated, “The starting point of city administration must be the places where citizens live,” adding, “I will respectfully serve those who have dedicated themselves to the nation and the elderly, and build a comprehensive welfare system to ensure that citizens in need, such as the disabled and low-income groups, are not marginalized.”
He continued, “For the recovery of the local economy, vitality in industrial sites and the stable growth of small and medium-sized enterprises are crucial,” and said, “I will create a virtuous cycle economy where the administration proactively identifies and resolves corporate difficulties, leading to high-quality jobs and income that improve the lives of citizens.”
Meanwhile, Mayor-elect Park plans to continuously visit welfare facilities and industrial and economic sites until his inauguration to gather citizen opinions and incorporate suggestions raised on-site into future city administration and major policies.
