고양특례시의 대표적인 교통 병목 구간으로 지적돼 온 대곡역 중앙버스정류장이 승객 중심의 안전하고 쾌적한 공간으로 새롭게 탈바꿈했다.
고양시는 대중교통 이용객의 편의 증진과 교통 흐름 개선을 위해 추진한 ‘대곡역 버스정류장 정차면 추가 공사’를 최근 완료했다고 4일 밝혔다.
대곡역 중앙버스정류장은 다양한 버스 노선이 집중되는 교통 요충지로, 그동안 여러 대의 버스가 동시에 정류장에 진입할 경우 정차 공간 부족으로 인해 뒤따르는 버스가 차로에 대기하는 일이 빈번하게 발생했다.

노후화된 기존 버스 쉘터와 버스정보안내기(BIT)를 철거하고, 규모를 확대한 최신형 버스 쉘터와 안내기를 기존 1개소에서 2개소로 늘려 설치했다.
이에 따라 출퇴근 시간대 이용객이 집중되는 상황에서도 보다 넓고 쾌적한 공간에서 버스를 기다릴 수 있게 됐다.
