국가배상금 지급 예비비 2,457억 원 지출안 국무회의 의결

(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 법무부가 지난 20일, 국가배상금 지급을 위한 예비비 2,457억 원 지출안이 국무회의에서 의결됐다고 밝혔다.

법무부에 따르면, 2025년 하반기부터 과거사 피해자들의 신속한 권리구제와 실질적 피해회복을 위해 선감학원, 형제복지원, 삼청교육대, 여수·순천 10·19 사건 등 주요 과거사 사건에 대한 상소 포기·취하 및 관행적 상소 자제 방침을 시행한 결과 과거사 국가배상 확정 판결이 크게 증가하면서 국가배상금 지급 소요도 급증했다.

이에 2026년도 국가배상금 예산이 조기 소진됨에 따라, 법무부는 피해자 불편을 최소화하기 위해 기획예산처와 적극 협의해 왔으며, 이번 국무회의를 거쳐 국가배상금 지급을 위한 예비비 2,457억 원을 확보할 수 있게 됐다.

법무부는이번  확보된 예비비를 바탕으로 각급 고등검찰청 및 지방검찰청에서신청 순서에 따라 순차적으로 국가배상금이 지급될 수 있도록 신속하게 절차를 진행할 계획이다.

정성호 법무부장관은 “국가배상금 지급은 국가의 책임을 이행하고 국민의 권리를 보장하는 중요한 책무이다. 법무부는 국민의 실질적인 피해회복과 권리보장을 위해 국가배상금 지급에 공백이 발생하지 않도록 국가배상 제도의 안정적 운영에 최선을 다하겠다.”고 밝혔다.

The Ministry of Justice announced on the 20th that a plan to spend 245.7 billion won in reserve funds for the payment of state compensation was approved at the Cabinet meeting.

According to the Ministry of Justice, the need for state compensation payments has surged as the number of finalized judgments for state compensation in past history cases has increased significantly.
