브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 정동영 통일부 장관은 21일 시진핑 중국 국가주석의 방북설이 제기된데 대해 “아직 중국 측 공식 발표가 없다”며 신중한 입장을 보였다.
정 장관은 이날 출근길에 기자들과 만나 시 주석이 다음주 북한 방문 가능성이 있다는 외신 보도에 나온 것과 관련 “지켜보겠다”며 이같이 밝혔다.
정 장관은 “한반도를 둘러싼 동북아시아 정세의 지각 변동 앞에서 한반도의 안정과 평화, 공동 번영을 전략적으로 깊이 고민해야 할 때”라고 말했다.
앞서 미국 타임지는 이날 익명의 소식통의 말을 인용해 이르면 다음주 시진핑 주석의 북한 국빈 방문이 추진되고 있다면서 중국과 북한이 일본의 새로운 군국주의에 맞서 더욱 긴밀히 협력할 것이라고 밝혔다.
이 신문은 시 주석의 행보가 일본이 평화주의 노선 대신 군사력 증강 등 적극적인 안보력 강화에 나선데 따른 대응의 성격이라고 분석했다.
한편 청와대와 외교부에서도 이날 "동향을 예의주시하고 있다"면서 "정부는 북·중 간 교류가 한반도 평화와 안정에 기여하는 방향으로 이뤄지기를 희망하며, 중국이 한반도 문제와 관련해 건설적인 역할을 해나가길 기대한다"는 입장을 밝히기도 했다.
