박형준 캠프의 서지연 대변인은 논평을 통해 전재수 후보가 과거 이건희 미술관 유치에는 적극적이었으면서도 퐁피두 분관 건립은 반대하는 모순된 태도를 보이고 있다며, 이는 부산 시민의 문화 향유권이 아닌 정파적 이해관계만 따진 전형적인 정치공세라고 지적했다.
서 대변인은 프랑스 사람들도 퐁피두를 잘 모른다는 전 후보의 발언을 무지에서 비롯된 용감함이라 꼬집으며, 연간 300만 명이 찾는 세계 3대 현대미술관의 가치를 폄하했다고 밝혔다. 이어 남구 이기대 예술 공원에 들어설 퐁피두 분관은 빌바오 효과를 재현할 핵심 프로젝트로, 세계적 문화 브랜드와 천혜의 자연이 결합해 엄청난 시너지를 낼 것이라고 강조했다.
특히 전 후보가 지난 2021년 이건희 미술관 유치 당시 비수도권의 문화적 소외와 수도권 편중을 막아야 한다고 목소리를 높였던 사실을 상기시켰다. 예산 1,700억 원 이상의 이건희 미술관을 찬성했던 논리라면, 세계적 브랜드를 포함해 1,099억 원이 투입되는 퐁피두 분관은 두 손 들고 환영하는 것이 일관된 철학이라는 설명이다. 결국 과거의 균형발전 논리가 사라진 것이 아니라, 선거를 앞두고 정치적 셈법만 바뀐 것이라는 비판이다.

In a commentary, Park's campaign spokesperson, Seo Ji-yeon, pointed out that Jeon is showing a deeply contradictory stance by opposing the Pompidou branch despite having previously been highly proactive in campaigning for the Lee Kun-hee Museum. She criticized this as a textbook political offensive driven strictly by partisan interests rather than the cultural welfare of Busan citizens.
Seo called out Jeon's recent remark that "even French people do not know the Pompidou well," labeling it as reckless confidence rooted in pure ignorance that downplays the value of a world-renowned landmark attracting three million visitors annually. She emphasized that the Pompidou Busan branch, slated for Igidae Arts Park in the Nam-gu district, is a flagship project designed to replicate the "Bilbao effect" by creating massive synergy between a global cultural brand and pristine natural landscapes.
In particular, the spokesperson recalled how Jeon raised his voice in 2021 during the bid for the Lee Kun-hee Museum, arguing that such a move was necessary to prevent the cultural marginalization of non-capital regions. She explained that if the logic held true for the Lee Kun-hee Museum, which carried a budget of over 170 billion won, it would be consistent to enthusiastically welcome the Pompidou branch, which brings a world-class brand for 109.9 billion won. Ultimately, she criticized Jeon's side for not losing their logic of balanced regional development, but rather shifting their political calculations ahead of the election.
Furthermore, she slammed the Democratic Party and affiliated civic groups for leading the opposition now, despite previously offering the Haeundae-gu Office site and forming a bid committee. She argued that their complete reversal simply stems from the fact that they cannot claim the credit for this achievement. She added that abandoning policy consistency based solely on partisan gains rather than the welfare of Busan citizens reduces them to mere political operators.
Lastly, Seo stressed that amidst major developments like the Gadeokdo New Airport and the North Port Redevelopment, the Pompidou branch will serve as a vital hub for cultural diplomacy connecting Busan directly to the world. She urged Jeon to clearly explain his illogical double standard—approving the Lee Kun-hee Museum while rejecting the Pompidou Center—directly to the citizens of Busan.
