안동소방서에 따르면 19일 오전 8시 2분께 안동시 풍산읍 소재 정미소에서 불이 났다는 신고가 접수됐다.
신고를 받고 출동한 소방대원들은 즉시 진화 작업에 나서 오전 9시 40분께 초기 진압을 완료했으며, 화재 발생 약 2시간 20여 분 만인 오전 10시 25분께 완전히 불길을 잡았다.
이번 화재로 샌드위치 패널 지붕 50㎡가 일부 소실되고 정미소 내부 집기류 등에 그을음 피해가 발생했지만, 다행히 인명피해는 없는 것으로 확인됐다.
소방당국은 용접 작업 중 발생한 불티가 내부 벽면 단열재로 옮겨붙으면서 화재가 시작된 것으로 보고 정확한 경위를 조사하고 있다.
안동소방서는 이번 사고를 계기로 용접·용단 작업 시 각별한 주의를 당부했다.
소방당국은 작업 전 주변 인화성·가연성 물질 제거, 소화기 등 초기 진화 장비 비치, 불티 비산 방지 조치, 밀폐 공간 작업 시 주기적인 환기, 화재감시자 배치 등 기본 안전수칙을 반드시 준수해야 한다고 강조했다.
안동소방서 관계자는 “화재 예방에 필요한 안전조치를 하지 않거나 부주의로 화재가 발생할 경우 관련 법령에 따라 처벌받을 수 있다”며 “작업 전·중·후 철저한 안전관리와 화재 예방수칙 준수에 각별히 신경 써 달라”고 당부했다.
