전남도는 산업통상자원부 공모사업인 ‘철강·금속 인공지능전환(AX) 실증센터 구축사업’에 최종 선정되어, 광양 익신산업단지에 실증센터를 구축하고 AI 기반의 제조 혁신을 본격 추진한다고 밝혔다.
최근 국내 철강·금속 업계는 글로벌 공급 과잉, 중국산 저가 철강재의 물량 공세, 미국의 고관세 장벽 등 다중고를 겪고 있다. 전남도는 이번 AX 실증센터 유치를 통해 전통 제조 현장의 체질을 개선하고, 지역 주력 산업의 경쟁력을 근본적으로 회복하겠다는 구상이다.
