브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령과 시진핑 중국 국가주석이 14일 정상회담을 갖고, 관계 안정과 경제 협력 필요성을 강조했다.
중국 관영 신화통신, 미국 AP통신, 뉴시스 보도에 따르면 양국은 이날 중국 베이징 인민대회당에서 정상회담을 가졌다.
시진핑 주석은 회담 모두발언에서 "세계가 새로운 갈림길에 서 있다"면서 미중 양국은 협력과 공존의 관계를 구축해야 한다고 밝혔다.
이어 "중미간 이견 보다 공동으로 얻어갈 수 있는 이익이 크다"면서 "양국 각자의 성공은 서로에게 기회가 되며 관계 안정은 세계에도 도움이 된다. 양국은 경쟁자가 아닌 파트너가 돼 서로를 성취시키고 공동 번영을 실현해야 한다"고 말했다.
시 주석은 또한 "양국은 올바른 공존의 길을 걸어야 한다. 미중 관계라는 큰 배가 올바른 방향으로 나아갈 수 있도록 함께 키를 잡아야 한다"면서 "2026년이 미중 관계의 과거를 계승하고 미래를 여는 역사적이고 상징적인 해가 되기를 희망한다"고 했다.
트럼프 대통령은 먼저 시 주석을 "위대한 지도자"라고 평가하며 중국 측의 환대에 감사함을 표했다.
