[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시가 오는 6월 18일부터 21일까지 ‘2026 진주 정원박람회’를 개최하며 시민 참여형 정원문화 확산에 나선다.
이번 박람회는 ‘진주정원 동행동락, 가꾸고 느끼고 나누다’를 주제로 월아산 숲속의 진주 일원에서 정원 전시와 체험, 정원산업전, 콘퍼런스, 문화예술 프로그램 등을 통해 시민과 함께하는 정원문화 축제로 운영된다.
진주시는 최근 기후 위기 대응과 도시 열섬 완화, 치유와 웰니스 문화 확산 등으로 정원의 가치가 높아지는 가운데 시민 정원사 양성과 개인 정원 발굴, 찾아가는 정원교실 운영 등을 통해 생활 속 정원문화 기반을 꾸준히 확대해 왔다.
또 시의 월아산 숲속의 진주는 작가정원과 편의시설 등을 갖추며 지방정원으로 등록됐고, 숲·치유·휴양·레포츠 기능이 결합된 복합형 숲정원 공간으로 주목받고 있다.
