10일 오후 충남 부여군 충화면 가회리 일대에서 발생한 산불이 산림당국의 집중 대응 끝에 약 5시간 만에 주불 진화가 완료됐다.
부여군과 산림당국에 따르면, 이날 오후 12시 42분경 충화면 가회리 산 174번지 인근에서 시작된 불은 산림 약 5.11ha(추정)를 태우고 같은 날 오후 5시 30분경 큰 불길이 잡혔다고 밝혔다.
이번 산불은 발생 직후 건조한 날씨와 바람을 타고 빠르게 확산할 조짐을 보였다. 이에 산림당국은 오후 4시 41분을 기해 ‘산불 초기대응’을 발령하고, 부여군을 중심으로 산림청, 충청남도, 국방부, 소방청 등 관계기관의 가용자원을 총동원했다.
진화 현장에는 산불진화헬기 15대와 진화 차량 등 장비 34대가 전방위로 투입됐으며, 특수진화대와 공무원 등 총 247명의 인력이 사투를 벌였다.
특히 민가 피해를 막기 위해 산불 확산 경로를 예측, 인근 마을 주민 6명을 인근 마을회관으로 선제적으로 대피시키는 등 발 빠른 안전 조치가 이뤄져 다행히 인명피해는 발생하지 않았다.
