국산목재 목조건축 실연사업은 지특회계 도 자율계정 사업으로 2024년 선정됐으며, 2025년부터 2028년까지 4년간 총사업비 130억 원을 투입해 음성읍 용산리 봉학골 정원 일원에 연면적 3000㎡ 규모의 목조 식물원을 조성하는 사업이다.
특히 국산목재 활용 확대와 친환경 공공건축 확산이라는 정책적 의미를 갖는 사업으로, 봉학골 정원의 자연환경과 조화를 이루는 상징적인 공공건축물 조성을 목표로 추진되고 있다.

군은 이번 보고회에서 논의된 내용을 바탕으로 2027년 3월까지 기본 및 실시설계를 마무리한 뒤, 2027년 4월부터 2028년 12월까지 건축 및 조경공사를 추진할 계획이다.
석철한 산림녹지과장은 “이번 사업은 국산목재 활용 가치를 높이는 동시에 봉학골 정원의 특성을 살린 차별화된 공공건축물을 조성하는 뜻깊은 사업”이라며 “설계 단계부터 기능성과 안전성, 이용 편의성, 유지관리 효율성 등을 종합적으로 검토해 완성도 높은 사업이 되도록 추진하겠다”고 말했다.
