국내 정치판은 한마디로 난장판이다. 이런 아수라장도 없다. 지지고 볶고, 치고받고, 이런 진흙탕 육박전도 없다. 불교에서 말하는 육도윤회의 지옥도, 아귀도, 축생도가 멀리 있지 않다.
국민의힘은 어차피 ‘윤어게인’으로 극우의 길을 자처했으니 말할 필요도 없다. 민주당 등 여권도 ‘원칙 있는 개혁’은 찾기 힘들고, ‘중구난방 말잔치’만 난무한다. 여기에 ‘공소취소 거래설’이라는 자폭 수류탄까지 집안에 터트려 자중지란이다. 그러나 지금 세계는 위기일발이다. 위험하고 복잡하게 돌아가고 있다. 미국과 이스라엘의 이란 침공으로, 기름값이 급등하며 세계 경제는 휘청이고, 국제 안보는 위기로 치닫고 있다.

미국 트럼프 대통령은 ‘아메리카 퍼스트(미국 우선주의)’라는 깃발을 들고 어디로 튈지 모르는 위험한 인물이다. 아니나 다를까, 미국은 한국 등을 상대로 무역법 301조에 따른 불공정 무역조사에 들어가, 여차하면 추가 관세 부가로 압박하려는 자세다.
국내 경제도 위기다. 지난달 6,244까지 치솟던 코스피 지수는 이달 들어 하락해 지금은 5,400대 수준에서 허덕인다. 여기에 ‘빚투(빚내서 투자)’는 사상 최대치를 기록했다. 이란 전쟁이 장기화하면, 국내 경제는 더욱 어려워질 테다. 지금은 여야 모두 정치투쟁, 권력투쟁을 할 때가 아니다. 국내 경제를 살리고, 국가 안보를 튼튼히 할 때다.
지난 3월12일 조용히 미국으로 건너가 밴스 미국 부통령을 만난 김민석 총리가 돋보이는 이유다. 김 총리는 밴스 미 부통령을 만나, 한국 국회가 대미투자특별법을 통과시키는 등 한미정상 회담 내용을 충실히 이행하고 있음을 강조했다. 또한 ‘비관세 장벽’ 등에 대한 미국의 우려를 해소함으로써 무역법 301조에 따른 추가 관세 부과에 대해 사전 예방 대책을 마련하고, 미국에 대해서도 핵추진 잠수함과 조선 등 한미 안보분야 합의사항에 대한 조속한 이행을 촉구했다.
