<브레이크뉴스 의정부 = 이용하 기자> 의정부영어도서관이 시민들이 일상 속에서 영어를 자연스럽게 접하고 함께 성장할 수 있는 영어 학습 공동체 활성화에 나선다.
의정부영어도서관은 오는 3월부터 12월까지 영어 뮤지컬, 영어 원서 필사, 엄마표 영어 등 다채로운 활동으로 구성된 영어 동아리 ‘잉글루(Englu)’를 본격적으로 운영한다고 밝혔다.
‘잉글루’는 영어(English)와 이글루(Iglu)의 합성어로, 영어를 공부하는 사람들이 모이는 따뜻한 보금자리를 의미한다. 프로그램은 연령과 목적에 따라 ▲뮤지키모(영어 뮤지컬) ▲스크리모(영어 원서 필사) ▲마미키모(엄마표 영어) 등 세 가지 분야로 나뉜다.
어린이를 대상으로 하는 ‘뮤지키모’는 초등 2~5학년이 참여해 영어 뮤지컬 ‘K-POP Demon Hunters’를 직접 만들어가는 과정으로, 오는 6월 10일에는 그간의 노력을 선보이는 발표회도 가질 예정이다.
성인 대상인 ‘스크리모’는 온라인을 통해 「연금술사」와 「어린 왕자」 같은 원서를 읽고 필사하며 꾸준한 독서 습관을 기르는 방식으로 운영된다. 또한, 보호자들을 위한 ‘마미키모’는 가정 내 영어 교육 정보를 공유하고 학습 네트워크를 형성하는 소규모 모임으로 운영될 계획이다.
영어도서관 관계자는 “시민들이 영어를 공부가 아닌 즐거운 활동으로 받아들일 수 있도록 연령별 맞춤형 프로그램을 준비했다”며 “잉글루를 통해 함께 배우고 성장하는 영어 학습 문화가 지역사회에 확산되길 기대한다”고 전했다.
