파주시가 매년 실시해 온 ‘장애인 시설 성폭력·학대 피해 예방 합동점검’을 평년보다 두 달 이상 앞당겨 추진한다고 밝혔다.
최근 발생한 타 지역 장애인 시설 내 불미스러운 사건으로 고조된 불안감을 해소하고, 선제적인 예방 조치를 통해 장애인 인권 보호망을 촘촘히 구축하겠다는 취지다.
통상 5~6월에 실시되던 이번 점검은 올해 2월부터 시작해 3월 31일까지 조기에 마무리될 예정이다.
이는 인천 강화군 중증장애인 시설에서 발생한 성폭력 사건 이후, 유사 피해를 막기 위한 파주시의 강력한 대응 의지가 반영된 결과다.
