이재명 대통령이 21일 "한 때 우리를 선도한 많은 나라들도 성공 공식에 안주하며 저성장 함정에 빠졌다"며 성장 전략 대전환 필요성을 주장했다.
이 대통령은 이날 오전 청와대 영빈관에서 열린 2026 신년 기자회견 모두 발언에서 "세계 질서가 거대 전환 소용돌이를 겪고 있는 지금 대한민국 역시 과거 성공 공식에 안주하고 매몰된다면 악순환 굴레에 빠져들게 될 것"이라며 이같이 밝혔다.
그러면서 "지방 주도 성장·기회·과실을 고루 나누는 모두의 성장, 안전에 기반한 지속 가능한 성장, 문화가 이끄는 매력적 성장, 평화가 뒷받침하는 안정적 성장 등 5가지 대전환 길이 대한민국의 대도약을 이끌 지름길이 될 것"이라고 주장했다.
또 "단지 지방을 위해 떡 하나 더 주겠다거나 중소벤처 기업을 조금 더 많이 지원하겠다는 뜻이 아니다"며 "국정운영 우선순위를 하나부터 열까지 모두 재조정하겠다는 것"이라고 했다.
이어 "정부가 지닌 자원·역량을 완전 재배치해 대한민국 성장 지도를 다시 그려내겠다는 야심 찬 도전"이라며 "현재 추진 중인 대전·충남과 광주·전남 광역 통합은 상징적 출발점이자 국가 생존 전략"이라고 했다.
더불어 "분명히 약속드린다"며 "정치적 유불리 따라 광역통합 방향이 흔들리는 일은 없을 것"이라고 했다.
이 대통령은 "스타트업·벤처 열풍 시대'를 만들어 나갈 구체적 정책들을 차근차근 공개하겠다"며 "이를 통해 새 성장동력을 만들어야 하고, 한쪽만 급격히 성장하고 다른 한쪽은 침체하는 'K자형 성장'을 극복해 나가겠다"고 덧붙였다.
