전통조경의 가치를 재조명하고, 디지털 기술을 접목한 창의적 해석을 통해 한국 전통경관의 미래를 모색하는 공모전이 다시 열린다. 국가유산청은 7월 1일부터 9월 30일까지 ‘제2회 대한민국 전통조경대전’을 개최한다고 밝혔다.
이번 공모전은 궁궐, 사찰, 서원, 향교, 민가 등에 조성된 전통조경공간을 기반으로, 한국 고유의 역사와 미감을 담아낸 조경 기법을 다양한 시각에서 해석하고 계승하기 위해 마련됐다.
특히 근대 이후 변화 양상과 미래적 적용 가능성을 함께 조망하는 점에서 지난해 1회 대회보다 진일보한 구성으로 평가된다.
공모는 디지털 설계 ,근현대 사진 및 영상 ,우수 시공사례의 세 부문으로 나뉘어 진행된다.
디지털 설계 부문은 한국 전통정원을 대상으로 디지털 기술을 활용한 창의적 설계안을 모집한다. 참여자는 전통조경을 현대적 감각으로 재해석하거나 미래지향적으로 확장한 아이디어를 설계 도면, 시각자료 등으로 제시해야 한다. 이 부문은 향후 국가 차원의 전통조경 표준모델 마련을 위한 기초 자료로 활용될 예정이다.
사진 및 영상 부문은 1990년 이전의 전통조경공간을 배경으로 한 사진과 영상 콘텐츠를 모집한다. 시대적 배경이 담긴 시각자료를 통해 당시 전통경관의 모습과 이후 변화 과정을 살필 수 있도록 구성되며, 일부 작품은 복원정비 사업의 사료로도 검토된다.
올해 처음 신설된 ‘우수 시공사례’ 부문은 국내에서 2024년까지 완공된 실내외 전통조경공간 중 뛰어난 사례를 발굴하는 데 초점을 맞춘다. 설계·시공의 완성도와 문화적 가치가 조화를 이루는 사례를 통해 전통조경 산업의 저변 확대와 현대적 계승 가능성을 엿볼 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

출품작들은 전문가 심사를 거쳐 11월 3일 수상작으로 발표되며, 부문별 대상 수상자에게는 국가유산청장, 한국전통문화대학교 총장, 궁능유적본부장, 한국전통조경학회장, 한국조경학회장 명의의 표창과 총 3000만 원 규모의 상금이 수여된다.
수상작은 오는 11월 17일부터 28일까지 덕수궁 선원전 권역(구 조선저축은행 중역사택)에서 전시되며, 일반 시민들에게 전통조경의 매력을 알리는 기회로도 활용될 예정이다.

National Heritage Administration Holds ‘2nd Korea Traditional Landscape Competition’
