14일, 포항 라한호텔에서 ‘2025 세계녹색성장포럼(WGGF)’이 성대한 막을 올리며, 세계 각국의 전문가와 도시, 기업들이 지속 가능한 녹색 성장을 위한 실질적인 협력 방안을 모색하기 시작했다.
‘미래를 위한 녹색 전환: 도전 속에서 길을 찾다!’라는 주제로 개최된 이번 포럼은 지구촌의 심각한 과제인 기후 위기에 공동으로 대응하고, 지속 가능한 경제 성장을 동시에 이루기 위한 국제적인 협력의 장으로 마련되어 그 의미를 더했다.

기조연설에서 김상협 GGGI 사무총장은 ‘비전에서 행동으로: 지속가능한 미래를 위한 녹색 성장의 실현’이라는 주제로, 아데어 로드터너 에너지전환위원회 의장은 ‘기후 위기 대응을 위한 에너지 전환’이라는 심도 깊은 주제로 각각 발표하며 지속 가능한 미래를 위한 녹색 성장의 방향과 실질적인 실행 전략을 제시했다.
이어진 세션에서는 ▲글로벌 정책 동향 ▲탄소중립 선도 도시의 혁신적인 사례 ▲신성장 산업을 이끄는 기업들의 역할과 구체적인 실천 전략을 중심으로 각국과 기업들의 다양한 경험과 지식이 공유되었으며, 도시와 산업 간의 실질적인 협력 방안에 대한 심도 있는 논의가 활발하게 이루어졌다.
특히, ‘탄소중립 선도 도시’ 세션에서는 포항시, 일본 요코하마시, 중국 텐진시가 참여하여 각 도시의 차별화된 녹색 정책과 성공적인 실천 사례를 발표하여 참석자들의 큰 관심을 끌었다.

이강덕 포항시장은 “포항은 과거 철강 산업 중심 도시에서 미래 지향적인 녹색 산업과 혁신적인 기술의 중심으로 성공적인 전환을 적극적으로 추진하고 있다”며 “이번 세계녹색성장포럼을 통해 지방 도시도 국제적인 환경 의제 논의에서 주도적인 역할을 수행할 수 있음을 국제 사회에 널리 알리고, 나아가 세계 여러 산업 도시 간의 성공적인 협력 모델을 제시하는 데 최선을 다하겠다”고 강한 의지를 밝혔다.
