【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=서원대학교(총장 손석민)는 3일 서원학원 아름관에서 2025학년도 1학기 외국인 유학생 환영식을 거행했다.
서원대학교 국제교류처 주관으로 진행된 이번 행사는 새로 입학한 외국인 유학생들의 안정적인 정착과 교내 생활 적응을 지원하고, 한국 사회 및 법령에 대한 이해도를 높이기 위해 마련됐다.
행사는 캠퍼스 투어를 시작으로 환영식, 경과보고, 총장 환영사, 유학생 대표 환영사, 국가별 축하공연, 기념 사진 촬영 순으로 진행됐다.
이날 손석민 총장은 환영사에서 “서원대학교에 오신 외국인 유학생 여러분을 진심으로 환영하며, 앞으로 이곳에서의 시간이 능력을 키우는 동시에 소중한 추억이 되기를 바란다”라고 말했다. 아울러 최근 미얀마 지진으로 피해를 입은 학생과 가족들을 위로하고 라마단을 마친 유학생들에게 ‘이드 무바락’ 인사를 전하는 등 진심 어린 메시지를 더해 뜨거운 박수를 받았다.
K-culture학과 학회장인 라우샨 학생은 유학생 대표로 나서 유창한 한국어로 환영사를 전하며 “서원대학교에서의 새로운 시작이 설레고 기대된다”라고 소감을 밝혔다. 이어진 국가별 유학생 공연은 다양한 문화가 어우러지는 화합의 장을 연출하며 참석자들의 큰 호응을 얻었다.
또한 외국인 유학생들이 반드시 숙지해야 할 기초 법령과 출입국 체류 관련 제도, 성폭력 및 각종 폭력 예방 교육, 소방안전교육 등 실질적이고 유익한 오리엔테이션 프로그램도 함께 진행됐다. 유학생들의 초기 적응을 돕기 위해 청주상당경찰서 이형수 경정의 법령 교육과 국제교류처 이영은 처장의 학사 안내도 이어졌다.
행사 종료 후에는 구내식당에서 만찬이 마련되어 유학생과 교직원, 재학생 간 교류의 시간을 갖고 환영식의 마무리를 장식했다.
서원대학교는 앞으로도 외국인 유학생들의 성공적인 유학 생활을 위한 다양한 맞춤형 지원과 프로그램을 지속적으로 확대해 나갈 계획이다.

Seowon University (President Son Seok-min) held the 2025 first semester international student welcome ceremony at Seowon Academy's Arum Hall on the 3rd.
