확실한 증거도 물증도 없이 유명세와 여론에 몰려 억울하게 성범죄 혐의로 1심에서 23년, 2심에서 17년, 3심인 대법원에서 징역 17년 확정 판결을 받은 기독교복음선교회 총재인 정명석 목사, 그가 대법원 최종 선고를 받은 지도 오늘로서 한 달이 됐다. 정명석 목사의 사건은 전 세계의 이목이 집중된 특별한 사건이다.
2025년 1월 9일, 대법원에서 정명석 총재를 유죄로 확정하던 15일 전인 지난해 12월 25일, 정명석 총재와 7년을 함께했던 성균관대 김종진 전 교수가 갑자기 사고를 당해 세상을 떠나자 그 교수의 부인이 생전에 작성해 놓은 남편의 일기를 정리하여 <정명석 선생님과 함께한 7년의 기록>이란 책을 출판사인 ‘도서명문’에서 발행(2024년 12월25일 발행) 했다.

정명석 목사가 그토록 아끼던 자신의 제자였던 고(故) 김종진 교수(성균관대 재직)가 정 목사를 알게 된 1992년부터 1999년까지 정 목사와 관계된 내용의 일기를 그의 부인 정혜빛 권사가 정리하여 발행을 한 책 <정명석 선생님과 함께한 7년의 기록>, 이 책의 머리글에서 저자인 故김종진 교수는 “나는 온전한 성경 해석으로 새로운 영적 지평을 연 인생의 참 스승을 만났다”면서 “인생은 얼마나 맛있게 먹고 사느냐가 문제가 아니고 얼마나 의롭게 사느냐가 문제라는 영감의 말씀으로 가난한 나의 심령의 문제를 풀어주고 인생의 참 가치가 무엇인지 깨우쳐 주셨으니 그 분은 바로 나의 목자이신 정명석 선생님”이라고 밝히고 있다.
그는 이어 “나는 선생님을 가까이서 7년간 모시고 배웠다. 그리고 선생님에 대해서 내가 아는바 대로 역사 앞에 증인이 되고 싶어 30년 넘게 하루도 빼놓지 않고 써 온 내 인생 일기 속에서 사실 그대로를 적어 놓는다”고 밝히면서 “인생은 누구나 홀로 가는 나그네 인생이다. 홀로 서서 하늘을 바라보니 나의 사랑하는 스승도 그러하셨다. 나는 홀어머니 자식으로 태어나 홀로 하늘을 보며 눈물을 감추시던 어머니를 보았고 형제 없이 걸어온 인생길에 서럽고 외로워 홀로 하늘을 바라보았다”고 밝히고 있다.
그는 또 “존경하는 인생의 참 스승을 만나 뵈니 그 또한 ‘하늘’을 바라보며 가시더이다. 나, 그처럼, 그만이 홀로 가신 길을 나만이 홀로 따라 간다”면서 “하늘 스승을 향한 이 내 영원한 사랑과 나의 내면에 존재하는 가장 고귀한 진실을 담아 기록으로 남긴다”면서 <정명석 선생님과 함께한 7년의 기록>의 출간을 밝히고 있다.

<정명석 선생님과 함께한 7년의 기록>은 이미 위에서 밝힌 저자 故김종진 교수가 정명석 총재와 함께했던 7년간의 일기를 년대 별로 고인의 부인 정혜빛 권사가 정리를 하여 세상에 내놓게 된 책으로 이 책을 읽는 순간에는 누구든지 근심과 걱정이 구름 걷히듯 사라지게 된다. 이 책 속의 이야기들을 어린아이와 이야기를 하면 어린아이가 듣고 싶어 하고 또 노인과 이야기를 하면 노인 역시 근심과 걱정을 사라지게 하는 희망을 갖게 해 주는 책이다.
저자는 <정명석 선생님과 함께한 7년의 기록> 목차에서 ‘나의 인생’으로 저자의 삶을 소개하고 1992년부터 1998년까지 정명석 총재와 함께한 세월과 순간의 내용들을 밝히고 저자가 삶을 마감한 1999년에는 ‘책을 마무리하며’에서 <총력의 섭리역사 1999년, 섭리사 환난의 시작이련가>라는 내용을 다루고 있다. 특히 저자는 ‘섭리사로 전도’라는 내용에서 정 목사를 따르게 된 동기를 밝히고 있는데 원래 저자는 불교신자였고 공자와 맹자에 관심이 있다가 기독교신자가 된 후 자신의 제자를 기독교로 전도시키려다가 거꾸로 제자에게 전도가 돼 섭리사에 입교가 됐다. 세계적으로 유일무이한 2천회을 성경을 읽고 청년대학생 6만여명이 따르는 정 목사의 실체를 알면서 저자 역시 정 목사의 제자가 된 것이다.
저자는 또 ‘정명석 선생님과의 첫 만남’ 내용에서는 1992년 4월 8일에 정 총재를 만난게 된것을 밝히며 “선생님은 나를 보자 하나님께서 당신을 만나주라 해서 서울에서 내려왔다고 말씀을 하시는데 선생님의 눈은 천길 만길 깊고 깊어만 보여 신기(神氣)가 어려 있었다”면서 “선생님의 손이 내 머리에 당하자마자 돌덩어리가 내리누르는 듯한 묵직함을 느꼈고 믿을 수 없는 감동의 순간이었다”고 밝히고 있다.
그는 또 ‘새로운 생명의 역사로’라는 내용에서는 “내가 믿고 있던 기독교를 버리고 선생님을 따르게 된 결단은 새 역사 앞에 하나님의 뜻에 의한 결단이었기에 자랑스럽게 생각한다. 나에게는 세상 사람들이 그 이상의 무슨 말을 한다 해도 견뎌낼 수 있는 참 진리가 준 위대한 용기가 있다. 세상에서 쌓아 올렸던 출세의 모든 바벨탑이 무너졌다 해도 나는 후회가 없다 이 모든 일이 다 하나님이 하신 일임을 나는 알고 있다”라고 밝히고 있다.
저자는 또 ‘바람아 멈추어라’ 내용에서는 “1992년 5월 2일 기독교복음선교회 설립 10주년 기념식에 국내외에서 2만 여명이 모였는데 밤 9시가 되어 시작된 전야제 행사에는 세차게 몰아치는 바람 때문에 지장이 많았다. 그때 선생님은 ‘바람아 멈추어라! 멈춰! 멈춰!’ 세 번 소리를 지르시자 금새 월명동 골짜기는 따뜻해진 봄기운이 돌았고 바람은 잠잠해져 축제는 자정 넘어서까지 계속 되었다”고 밝히고 있다.
그는 또 ‘모든 비결서의 해답은 성경’ 내용에서는 “종교의 신비성에 빠지지 말기 바란다. 진리는 상식을 벗어나면 진리가 아니다. 상식이 통하는 진리만이 참 진리요 신비를 주장하는 종교야말로 비정상적인 진리임을 알아야 할 것이다. 하나님은 상식의 하나님이요 과학의 하나님이요 문학의 하나님이다. 그래서 비유를 못 풀면 정말 비위 상하는 일들이 일어난다. 몇 년전 하늘로의 휴거를 주장하는 사람도 비유인 휴거를 풀지 못해 나라를 소란케 하는 일을 저질렀는데 바로 이 시대를 잘못 인도하는 소경 같은 목자가 아닌가”라고 밝히고 있다.
저자는 이 외에도 정 목사의 말씀과 진리가 담긴 편편의 내용들인 120여가지를 소개하고 있다. 때문에 이 내용 들을 모두 읽게 되면 ‘정명석 목사, 그는 누구인가?’를 알게 되고 또 30년~40년의 섭리 역사를 정 목사와 함께하는 그 이유를 알게 된다.

저자는 “나의 짧은 일기 내용으로 스승의 깊은 내면의 세계를 어찌 다 알 수 있을까? 마치 동굴의 입구만 보고서 동굴 안에 있는 석순, 석주, 종유석 등의 신비함과 아름다움, 그리고 오묘함을 다 알 수 없듯 내가 본 빙산의 일각에 불과한 스승의 말씀과 행적에 대한 하늘의 깊은 심정의 뜻을 알 수 없고 다만 잠시 엿볼 수 있을 뿐”이라고 밝히고 있다.

故김종진 교수는 1950년생으로 전북 남원 출신이다. 그는 한학을 가르치는 서당 집안에서 자란 탓으로 한문학에 뜻이 있어 전주교육대학 졸업(1971)후 초등학교 교사를 5년간 역임하고 그 후 전주대학교 한문교육학과 졸업, 성균관대학교 문학석사(1985), 성균관대학교 문학박사(1992) 학위를 취득하고 7년간 전주대, 성균관대에서 출강을 했다.
그러다가 1992년 42세 때, 기독교복음선교회 정명석 총재의 말씀(설교)에 심취되어 대학 강단을 떠나면서 입교, 오로지 섭리사 신앙 사역에만 전념, 종사를 하면서 정명석 총재 특별보좌관, 기독교복음선교회 전초 강사, 섭리신학장 등을 역임하면서 오직 하나님만을 섬기는 스승인 정명석 총재의 길만을 따르다가 2009년 가을 어느 날, 59세로 유명을 달리했다.
