더불어민주당을 위시한 거대 야권의 무차별적 탄핵 남발과 입법 독주가 횡행하며 국민적 우려를 자아냈다. 더욱이 마약 수사를 비롯한 각종 민생범죄 예방과 대처에 필요한 예산마저 대폭 삭감한 사실이 세간에 확산되며 야권에 대한 반발 기류도 그에 비례하는 것으로 관측되고 있다.
국회에서 윤석열 대통령 탄핵에 이어 한덕수 권한대행마저 의결정족수 시비가 뚜렷함에도 불구하고, 이를 무시한 채 탄핵을 강행했다. 심지어 위법성이 농후한 고위공직자범죄수사처(공수처)의 윤 대통령 체포영장 청구에 이은 서울 서부지원의 영장 발부라는 도무지 믿기지 않는 일까지 벌어졌다.
급기야 공수처가 현직 대통령 체포에 나서려는 헌정사상 초유의 사태가 발생하고 있다. 이에 대해 윤 대통령 측은 수사 자체의 정당성을 강하게 반박하며 법적 대응에 나섰다. 그에 따른 국민 여론도 크게 요동치고 있다. 무안공항에서 발생한 제주항공 여객기 참사로 인한 컨트롤타워 부재 등까지 겹치며 나라 전체가 일촉즉발의 위기 상태다.
이런 가운데 윤석열 대통령 지지율이 대폭 오른 36.1%의 여론조사 결과가 나왔다. 탄핵이 국익에 도움이 되지 않는다는 응답은 지지율보다 높은 44.7%로 나타났다. 이는 모든 지역과 연령대에서 공히 상승한 것으로, 윤 대통령에 대한 체포영장 등으로 인한 지지층 결집과 야권의 입법 횡포에 따른 동정 여론 형성이 주된 요인인 것으로 풀이된다.
이같은 결과는 여론조사기관 코리아정보리서치가 천지일보 의뢰로 지난 12월 29~30일 사이에 전국 만 18세 이상 남녀 1008명을 대상으로 실시해 집계된 비율이다. 부정 평가는 61.6%, 입장 유보는 2.3%로 나타났다. 일주일 전 무렵 조사 결과와 비교하면 윤 대통령의 지지율은 7.7%p 상승했고, 부정 평가는 5.0%p 하락했다.
연령대별 지지율을 보면 70세 이상 56.7%(15.5%p↑), 60대 41.9%(11.4%p↑), 30대 41.4%(10.4%p↑), 40대 25.0%(7.5%p↑), 50대 27.7%(1.0%p↑), 만 18세~20대 27.5%(1.7%p↑) 순으로 조사됐다.
지역별 지지율에서는 대구·경북 46.4%(17.1%p↑), 부산·울산·경남 40.6%(7.8%p↑), 광주·전남·전북·제주 18.9%(7.5%p↑), 경기·인천 33.6%(7.1%p↑), 대전·세종·충청·강원 35.9%(5.9%p↑), 서울 41.5%(5.1%p↑) 순으로 전 지역에서 오름세를 보였다.

이념성향별 지지율은 보수 65.8%(10.4%p↑), 중도 30.2%(7.5%p↑), 진보 11.3%(2.3%p↑)였다. 국민의힘 지지층에서는 80.7%로 직전 조사 대비 12.3%p 수직 상승했다. 이는 국민의힘 지지층 뿐만 아니라, 중도 및 진보층에서도 함께 상승했다는 점에서 주목된다.

Support rates by ideological tendency were conservative 65.8% (↑10.4%p), moderate 30.2% (↑7.5%p), and progressive 11.3% (↑2.3%p).
