이는 △REform(비대면 전환) △REcyle(자원 순환) △REspect(보훈‧경로 예우) △REgion(지역사회 지원) △RElief(소외‧취약계층 지원) △REmedy(치료‧재활) △REcover(재해‧재난 복구) △RElation(이해관계자) △REward(후원‧보상) △REcreation(문화‧체험) 관련 사회공헌 활동을 의미한다.

By field, ‘support for the vulnerable’ (55.9%), ‘education/school/academics’ (13.1%), and ‘culture, arts and sports’ (11.4%) were surveyed. In particular, support for the vulnerable increased by more than 100 billion won compared to the previous year. It is analyzed that this is due to the fact that companies resumed face-to-face and non-face-to-face programs for the vulnerable as the demand for social support for the vulnerable increased due to the prolonged COVID-19.

In addition, the FKI presented the characteristics of recent corporate social contribution activities as [RE:10] in the report. These include △REform (non-face-to-face conversion) △REcyle (resource circulation) △REspect (veterans and veterans) △REgion (community support) △RElief (support for the marginalized/vulnerable) △REmedy (treatment/rehabilitation) △REcover (disaster and rehabilitation) disaster recovery) △RElation (stakeholders) △REward (sponsorship/compensation) △REcreation (culture/experience) related social contribution activities.

Among these, the most notable feature is that as the COVID-19 has been prolonged, corporate social contribution programs have shifted (REform) from existing offline and face-to-face activities to online and non-face-to-face activities.

For example, new forms of social contribution activities under social distancing conditions, such as converting existing offline education into online 1:1 video classes, converting walking events into YouTube/SNS campaigns, producing online research lab tour videos, and campaigns using mobile applications. This has widened significantly.

With the spread of ESG management, social contribution programs include resource recycling (REcycle), such as an upcycling project that makes new products using recycled plastics and waste, and activities that show respect and respect (REspect) for people of national merit, such as a residential environment improvement project for descendants of independence fighters. they stood out

Amid active discovery of new programs in line with changes in the social environment, projects for the local community (REgion) were also steadily developed. In particular, the establishment of new social contribution programs to help resolve the unemployment crisis, such as vocational training and support for entrepreneurship among young people in the local community, stood out. In addition, among new corporate social contribution programs in 2021, the proportion of projects targeting “youth” more than doubled from 3.5% in 2020 to 7.2% in 2021.

Companies cited 'solving problems faced by local communities and contributing to local development' (33.2%) as the most important factor to consider when operating social contribution programs, and 'social atmosphere for corporate social responsibility' (26.5%). , followed by 'the mission and philosophy of the company (CEO)' (25.1%).

Regarding ESG management, which has recently been spreading, 'responding to climate change, such as reducing carbon emissions,' was the most common at 24.3%, followed by strengthening customer and worker safety (17.7%) and realizing eco-friendly values within production activities (16.9%). ) was found to be This is interpreted as partly reflecting the growing demand for companies to participate in responding to climate change, a global topic, and the recent increase in interest in industrial safety and social demand.

Lee Sang-yoon, head of the Communication Headquarters of the Federation of Korean Industries, said, “2021 was a year in which companies tried to revitalize our society by resuming their social contribution activities in various ways despite the prolonged corona pandemic and difficult conditions such as the economic recession.” “It is urgent to create a social atmosphere that encourages and encourages the efforts of companies that have supported the vulnerable and the young generation who are tired and struggling due to Corona 19, such as the establishment of a non-face-to-face social contribution program,” he said.
